Today is special for me. I am fortunate that I get to be a musician and that I get to work on records that I am truly be proud of.
It’s easy to lose prospective. I spend so much time staring at a computer, toiling over a bar at a time. And there is nothing like playing live and giving the moment everything I’ve got. But the memories of the shows I’ve done, even the all-timers tend to melt into one another. Records are different. While I change constantly, listening to an album that I have a connection to almost always helps me zoom way out. I get flooded with memories, inspiration and gratitude for the wonderful community that I’m a part of. I should say that albums that I didn’t work on also do this for me, but I digress!
2 records and a single that I worked on have been released today and you should absolutely listen to them.
@nikospiano and I go back almost 20 years. We’ve both come a long way from playing Bill Evan’s Nardis at cocktail parties. He is an incredible composer and pianist. I recorded him and master cellist/long time pal
@hillarysmithcello at
@knobworld last year. The writing is truly wonderful, complex and simple concurrently, like all of my favorite classical music. It’s undeniably gorgeou and the playing is spectacular. It’s one of my favorite projects I’ve ever recorded and I feel truly honored that I got to play a part in bringing For Beverly into the world.
@lorenkramar ‘s Glovemaker is out in the world today. Produced by
@thebestofspatrickobrien and recorded almost entirely at
@knobworld . Loren is MAGIC. Sean is a producing and mixing wizard. There are so many amazing performances on this record, all topped by Loren. I feel so very fortunate that I got to play on a couple songs.
And finally,
@samwebermusic released a second single off of his upcoming album Clear and Plain. I think the free spirit that Sam encouraged when we made this record is evident. Sam
@malnotbad and
@dawestheband (Griff) played so beautifully! And I got to play like myself.
