Ray Thompson 05/03/1947 - 03/04/2024 "Taking a chance on himself in 1982, Ray Thompson started a small industrial supply company that led to the creation of a brand of drill bits and cutting tools that interrupted the standard in the automotive tools & equipment industry. Having befriended a neighbor who was in the industry, that friend took a chance on a new brand he created, KnKut, and provided a path to build the brand and company we have today. Ray was a very hard worker and was very dedicated to his craft. He educated so many people on the intricate details of drill bits and cutting tools, how they work, why they work and most importantly how to make them work. He was just as dedicated to not taking things so seriously as many of you who knew Ray can attest to. He was quick witted and always had a joke or two to tell, even if they weren't the most appropriate. 😁 He loved his Family, God and his Work. He was very proud of KnKut. And although he might not have been able to say it to everyone who had been a part of his journey, I know he truly appreciated every person who helped build his business to what it is today. From the bottom of his heart, I know this to be true. And as his son, I will continue to build on the legacy of my Father and make sure KnKut is operated under the same hard work, dedication and values that allowed us to be in business for the last 42 years. To say I have been anxious and scared to drill even into the scrap metal is an understatement. Am I doing it perfect? No. Did I do some things incorrectly? I’m sure. The whole point, is to learn along the way. How can we grow and improve when not allowing for the actual learning process to occur? Culturally, it’s acceptable for kids to not know how to do everything. Yet, when an adult is struggling when stepping outside their comfort zone, they are made fun of? That makes no sense to me. You don’t know what you don’t know. It has nothing to do with my age or that I’m a woman. I want to help normalize being the noobie as a grown ass adult. It’s never too late to expand your horizons. Who became the master of the universe and deemed it impossible? Thank you KnKut for taking the extra time to send me tips and tricks.
