LOVE AT FIRST CYCLE: A Gal + Guy Wellness Experience x @harlemcycle This experience hosted by @kmonae.ko was designed to bring together the gals + guys for a cycle class at the newly opened @harlemcycle (Newark) in celebration of love, wellness, and community. The event was layered with intention— the main goal was to bring brand/business awareness to help spread the message about new businesses like @harlemcycle . In addition to the cycle class, @kmonae.ko curated and partnered with black owned + health focused brands to emphasize the importance of wellness & healthy living. my JOY is full & the JOY of the Lord is my strength! Wow, another Newark Arts Festival in the books & I’m still in awe.. just to be a part and to work with so much talent is an honor and a privilege. I know people most times don’t see the behind the scenes work but this year I challenged myself to really show that and share that in stories & reels. I’ve heard so much feedback in the last couple of weeks & I’d say the assignment was received + understood ✨ We were building for 10+ months, and it all came to fruition about 2 weeks ago. We laughed, we stayed late, prayed, went back & forth to the drawing board, sent a million emails, celebrated, took notes, and laughed some more because this year the theme was JOY! Point being, in order to produce an arts festival themed ‘JOY’, there had to be pure JOY. That JOY came in different shades, but the essence of it lived in every part of the process. I share gratitude with my Newark Arts/ Newark Arts Festival team, partners, vendors, artists, curators, participants, volunteers, and attendees, literally everyone.. May you all run on this momentum of JOY & know that JOY lives wherever you are.. CWM to City Wide Worship NYC at Spotify In celebration of community week NYC & National Day of Prayer, 150+ believers came together to worship God at @spotify and I’m still in awe of the way God moved! So many testimonies, so many miracles, and answered prayers that I can’t even count. It’s so amazing to see believers have a space in their workplace, and communities to worship Jesus. That’s exactly what we’re called to do.. to be the light in any place that we’re in so shoutout to all the organizations making this effort (shout out to Christians Innovate). Thank you to City Wide Worship (@wearecitywideworship ) + Christians at Spotify + Christians in Tech (@christians_in_tech ) for organizing this event & the invite— it’s a blessing to have been in the number. First Monday in May — The Art of Giving Newark Arts hosted the first of many First Monday in May events, and I walked away learning something new about the art of giving. Let me tell you what I learned and why this arts fundraising event spoke to me so deeply. In the book of Acts, Apostle Paul says, “It is more blessed to give than to receive” (Acts 20:35). I believe the purpose behind those words was to remind people that they were already blessed through their faith, their gifts, and their hard work. And in that realization lies the art. The art is this: by the grace of God, the giver has been entrusted with the skill, talent, wisdom, resources, and heart to pour into others. Do you see the beauty in that? I’m certain we’ve all been recipients of that kind of art before. But the question is: have we taken the time to recognize it? To acknowledge it? That’s what the First Monday in May experience felt like to me. The givers—artists, advocates, donors, organizers, and community leaders—came together to create one larger picture: a lasting impact on the city of Newark and the continued preservation of the arts. CWM to the Annual Spring Luncheon & Auction with @njpacwomen I had the pleasure and honor to join @njpacwomen this year to celebrate sisterhood, and the significant impact being made by hundreds of New Jersey’s most dynamic women! This year’s luncheon was nothing short of amazing— everything from the greeting, auction, networking, conversation, and the overall joy in the room really made the afternoon special! Gatherings like this are so powerful— we all get to make a joint impact that directly supports the Arts Center’s social impact work in arts education, community, engagement, and arts and well-being. (Matt. 6:28-30) I am still in awe of the love, celebration, and warmth I received in celebrating my birthday which was April 3rd (I know the longest birthday ever lol) I have been blessed so much and God continues to show me that through the people that He has placed in my life. I actually get overwhelmed around my birthday because I just prefer to be the one to throw the parties and events for others to attend and enjoy.. so when it’s for me, I am outside of my comfort zone a bit so it has taken me forever to say anything.. but please know I am deeply grateful.. This year has been special because I truly believe God wanted me to see how much He actually loves me.. it’s like He wanted me to feel it, see it, hear it, and know it in a way I haven’t known before..
