Karsen Heagle is a visual artist who works primarily in painting and drawing. Their work reflects autobiographical symbolism, thematically focused on memento mori, feminism, sexuality and queer identity. Often with wildlife subjects metaphorically depicting states of ecstasy and transformation, while also acting out predation suggesting a commentary on the brutality of contemporary culture. They hold an MFA from Pratt Institute, a BFA from University of Wisconsin-Stout and lives and works in Brooklyn, NY. In addition Heagle is an Adjunct Assistant Professor at Brooklyn College.

Harpy Eagle, recent work : Daughter of Arrows (Brady Tarot) - the sloth is a the natural prey of the harpy eagle. While working on this piece a few years ago during a Tarot reading using the Emi Brady Tarot #emibradytarot - I pulled the Daughter of Arrows Card with the image of the Sloth escaping the Harpy (because it’s super power is how slow it moves.) I related.

Thinking about the 60th Anniversary of the UW-Stout Art Dept. in Menomonie, Wisconsin where I got my BFA in 1990. I am honored to be exhibiting two small recent watercolors along with a selection of alumni. I grew up in Menomonie on a dairy farm.
