Summer Projects Part II: Lighting for Iris van Herpenâs âHybridâ show for Paris Couture Week (France)
Right before the Olympics, I traveled to Paris to help team @popkraft1.0 design lighting for prominent couturier @irisvanherpen âs first foray into visual art. In a marathon two days, we built and lit an environment for several model-performers to be lifted into the air as living sculptural beings in front of canvas.

Last month we opened RIVER WATCHERS, an intimate canoe show on the Newtown Creek.
This site specific show is talking about the impact and complexity of our choices as individuals and what we are capable of as a community. :)

During the last couple of weeks I have collaborated with @adoatopictures and created the light design for the installation: âWhere There Is Lightâ. The project runs till upcoming Saturday and is part of the @amsterdamdanceevent programming. However itâs free to walk in!
âWhere there is lightâ a sensory experience where we hope to have created a forrest bathing experience where you can surrender to your inner calmness and breathe with the forrest.

In the past few weeks I worked at @bostheater together with an incredible team of people.
Together we created âVergezichtenâ, a performance installation in which we ask ourselves the question if we can change our anthropocentric worldview to a ecocentric worldview. We wonder if it is possible to make theater without human heroes and if the forest we are collaborating with itself can be the protagonist of our story?
âBut you are already a symbiotic being entangled with other beings. The problem with ecological awareness is not that itâs horribly difficult. Itâs that itâs too easy. You are breathing air, your bacterial microbiome is humming away, evolution is silently unfolding in the background. Somewhere, a bird is singing and clouds pass overhead. You stop reading this book and look around you. You donât have to become ecological. Because you are ecological.â (Timothy Morton)
