It was a joy to work with the amazing @sarahmcbriar to make this magical moment happen. WHAT a weekend - still reeling and have so much more goodness to share ❣️

When @zoebonnie asked me and @lucindalohan to speak at @nasc_collective_ my first instinct was to say no 😅 the imposter syndrome was poppin’. I kept thinking, what do I have to offer compared to these insanely talented women? Turns out… I had a lot to say 😂 shocking I know! Looking back on the last 10 years, I realised how much I’ve fought for my place in this industry. Even now I still sometimes feel like I don’t fully belong, but I’m proud I kept going and built a career that once felt impossible. It wasn’t exactly the conventional route, I remember thinking oh if I haven’t been interning since I was 18 I’ve no chance, but I didn’t even go freelance until I was 30! But sure look, if you told 18 year old me who wrote that I was going to be the editor of Vogue in my yearbook, that my work would actually BE in Vogue one day… she’d probably say obvs x It was such an honour to share the stage with two friends I admire so much, talking honestly about the challenges, the highs, and all the advice we wish we’d been given when we started. One thing I’ll always stand by: if you don’t ask, you don’t get. Asking to assist my amazing friend @rhiannon_isabel taught me so much and opened doors. Telling @rosiehstewart I’d love to style @saoirsemonicajackson changed everything. You have to back yourself, even when you’re terrified of rejection. If you feel like you’re on the outside looking in, or lost for what to do next, reconnect with the thing that made you feel alive as a child. It really helps me when I feel like I don’t know what’s next. Self loathing and criticism are things we learn, sometimes as a survival technique. I’m still working on that, but I’m so glad I pushed through the noise and the doubt. Obviously this has turned into a Substack… Substack is to a girl that loves to waffle as a podcast is to a boring man with terrible opinions. Who knows, maybe I’ll start both 😉 Grá mór to Nasc and the beautiful community Zoe has created. Lola, it is such a privilege to get to work closely with someone who is not only so talented, but who uses their voice to speak about the truly important things in life.
