The monthly dialogue series titled RegenHERation organized by Canada’s Pavilion to celebrate progress in advancing gender equality globally was a great opportunity to mark the International Day of Women in Diplomacy at Expo 2025 with a “focus on World Expos as a platform for driving diplomacy, and the women shaping this reality at Expo 2025 Osaka.” I was happy to have participated in the event hosted at the Women’s Pavilion and grateful to
@canadaexpo Commissioner-General Ms. Laurie Peters for inviting me to give short remarks at the start of an inspiring dialogue, led by Commissioner-General Peters, with Ms. Shifa Zghoul Haddad, Acting Commissioner General
@expo2025jordan and Ms. Sachiko Nakajima,
@expo2025_kuragepj Producer. The discussions and dialogue were further enriched with remarks from Ms. Lina Antanaviciene, Lithuania’s Commissioner-General
@baltics2025expo , Ms. Lara Patrelle Director of Protocol at
@franceexpo2025osaka , and Ms. Maureen Smith, Commissioner-General of
@expo2025jamaica .
The experiences shared by these women leaders at Expo 2025 demonstrated the commonality of challenges faced by women, particularly in advancing to leadership positions in public and private sectors and therefore the importance of continued advocacy for gender equality and active promotion of women’s empowerment throughout the world, a point I stressed in my remarks.
