The Caterpillar club
My mum’s dad John was a member of The Caterpillar Club* . He was an FAA pilot who jumped (for his life) from a plane and successfully survived thanks to the parachute.
My mum has the membership card propped up as a beautiful object and I have always wanted to make a light box sign inspired by it.
This is for John, who I never met, but wish I had.
AI overview:
The Caterpillar Club - WW2 Escape Lines Memorial Society
The Caterpillar Club is an informal association for people whose lives have been saved by using an Irvin parachute from a disabled aircraft. Members receive a gold caterpillar pin badge, a membership card, and a certificate. The club was founded by Leslie Irvin, who originally made parachutes from silk, and the caterpillar represents the silk thread used in their creation
