Yāall, Iāve been āwriting music about climate changeā for 20 years now. (May the energy industry have an awakening, at long last).
Here is another offering, āAfter Darkness,ā a song with lyrics written by Julianna Cahill, one of the ORS youth choir singers, inspired by photography by David James Bayles of forests growing back from complete fire devastation created in collaboration with ecologist Frederick J Swanson. Third Angle New Music brought us all together to create Following Fire and our world premiere will take place this Friday, May 15 at 7:30 pm at World Forestry Center (+May 22 at PRAx @ OSU). Composers Michael-Thomas Foumai and Iman Habibi wrote the other two movements of the triptych and the rest of the program is great.
I hope you can join us! Enjoy some photos of the flowers in Portland and my new pup, Pixie, too!
Congratulations to client Kirsten Volness for her place as Composer in Residence for All Classical Radio!ā
