A mile down a single-track road lies a steep hill.
Twenty yards up a steep hill climbs a cabin.
From outside the cabin, thereās the muffled sound of laughter.
Fifty years of Rocky Mountain winters battered the doors under the palm of your hand.
Inside the cabin, thereās the smell of burning pine, Folgerās, and blueberry pie.
Under your feet are the creeks of shifting floorboards.
This is the cabin built by experimental filmmaker Fred Worden in the 1970s. Now stewarded by musician, filmmaker, actor, photographer, and beautiful gem of a human, Kirk Scully.
Kirk and Kat Lane (another gem of a human/masterful musician and songwriter) began the FRED concert series in November. They are now on version 3.0.
Morgan McHugh and Sam Weber graced the cabin and its occupants with their songs. On display was brilliant songwriting and musicianship.
When their sets were over, guitars came off the wall into the audienceās hands. Blueberry pie slid out of the hot oven. We sang Prine, Browne, Dead, Welch & Rawlings, and more between sips of wine and coffee.
When it was time to leave, chimes of āsee you soonās echoed through the alpine forest into the early hours of the morning.
The brilliant sound was amplified and captured by Jon Galle.
I had the honor of photographing this show/hang. I am so grateful for this community, the space, and the opportunity to witness art in this way. Go drop a follow to all the amazing humans tagged who made this thing possible and whose art is deeply needed in this day and age.
