3D Gaussian Splatting Mesh 3.0, more results coming in.
The main improvements: smoother large surfaces, better structure retention on thin geometry, and less broken mesh overall. Side-by-side with 2.0 in the video below, thin details is where it really shows.

This is what the algorithm change actually looks like in practice.

Updates and fixes on our free 3DGS Render addon for Blender are done! Now is time for documentation and new tutorials before the release.
If you have an idea for a tutorial, or something you're curious about, let me know and I'll try to squeeze it in 😁 #b3d #blender #3dgs #gaussiansplat #photogrammetry
We’re excited to team up with RenderHub @renderhub3d to share more workflows around 3D capture, Gaussian Splatting, and creator-ready 3D assets.
To start, here’s a quick guide on capturing better 3D Gaussian Splatting scans with KIRI Engine.
Because better assets usually begin with better capture 📷

Photogrammetry is weirdly good at destruction.
Bent metal, torn surfaces, crushed geometry…
all of that chaotic detail actually gives PhotoScan more information to work with.
This wrecked car scan came out surprisingly clean🚗
Pencil Sketch, or Gaussian Splat?
Gaussian Splatting is becoming the undisputed king of realism in 3D. Butt there's so much potential growth for stylistic applications too! #3dgs #gaussiansplatting #b3d #blender #3dscan #3dmodel #eeveerender #photogrammetry
Shiny plastic surfaces and areas of a single color - they can't be 3D scanned, right?!
That's what most people think. But our new Gaussian Splat to mesh 3.0 update can tackle the problem.
Here traditional photogrammetry produced lumpy ghosting on the edges of the legs, huge chunks missing on the shield, and a stylish PS1 graphics style face 😆#3dgs #3dscan #photogrammetry #photoscan #3dmodel #3d #marvel
Editing Gaussian Splat opacity with ink drops 💡
Doing this relies on conversion to mesh, and using UVs. We know of some GS texturing methods like Texture-GS, are there any other, similar methods or tools out there right now? #3dgs #gaussiansplat #blender #b3d #photogrammetry #3dscan
Tested Claude + Blender today with two real workflows. Sharing what actually happened.
First one was a simple demo. Gave it one sentence to build a cyberpunk room. Geometry, lighting, camera, render. It got there, though not everything in the prompt landed perfectly. Good enough to show the concept, not a stress test.
Second one was more interesting. Threw a raw photogrammetry scan at it. Massey Ferguson tractor, 250k faces, grass background everywhere, debris floating all over the place. Asked Claude to clean it up autonomously.
It did the work. Removed 106 floating chunks, cut face count by 87%, stripped the grass, flipped the model upright, set up studio lighting and rendered. Technically it worked.
But honest answer: the result wasn't clean enough for production. This kind of cleanup still needs the right tools and someone who knows what they're doing.
So here's where it actually fits. Not the precise technical stuff. The setup work. The repetitive stuff. The things that take forever if you don't already know Blender. It won't replace your 3D artist. It replaces the boring part before they start.
Want to know a bonus feature of our updated 3DGS to mesh method 💡
Rigging and relighting Gaussian Splats is not easy, sometimes impossible! Having an accurate mesh version allows you to use the mesh as a 'proxy' for capturing light and deformation changed, which can be projected back onto the 3DGS scan.
*The relighting in this video is a little ugly since it's a feature we're still working on for our free 3DGS render updates 🤓 #3dgs #gaussiansplat #b3d #blender #3dscan #photoscan #pgotogrammetry
This cat won’t let me work🐱
And if I can’t work, who’s going to fix our app’s bugs???
Just kidding. This is Cat Gatekeeper, a browser extension that blocks sites like X, Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube by sending a giant, unremovable cat onto your screen until your break timer ends.
Very cute. Very powerful. Slightly terrifying.

Netflix's Eyeline Labs just dropped Vista4D at CVPR 2026. Reshoot any monocular video from a completely different camera angle. Wasn't there. Different viewpoint. Still works.
4D point clouds as conditioning for video diffusion, not just novel view synthesis. Geometry guides the generation instead of trying to solve it./Eyeline-Labs/Vista4D
I can't believe this is actually possible now
We've all been told in the past: 'you can't scan thin surfaces' but with our new 3DGS-to-Mesh 3.0 methods we scanned a flower!
From the featureless base, to incredibly thin stems, to even the petals (?!) the output is a clean, defined mesh #3dgs #gaussiansplat #photogrammetry #3dscan #photoscan #3dmodel #3d
