And NYC Art Week begins! We kicked things off at NADA this morning, excited to see a few beauties we’ve had our eyes on 👀 like this striking painting by Murray Clarke. Clarke’s practice pulls from the visual language of fashion and consumerism, balancing abstraction with recognizable imagery. We love the tiny whisper of the figure’s skin at the bottom of the composition, providing context in a sea of stripes.
We loved exploring this selection of small paintings by Yutong Yin at Latitude Gallery in NYC. The works read like fragments of memory - comprised of cropped, raw snapshots of human moments that feel like photo albums or brief encounters suspended in time. @latitudegallery_newyork
From framer ➡️ install: Patrick Eugène in a private Houston collection. Rendered in a restrained and near monochromatic palette, the work draws focus to the sitter who carries a stoic, introspective presence. In a classic Eugène style, it’s as if the figure is caught mid-thought.
Included in our show “Surface + Line” - organized in partnership with McClain Gallery at the TC Energy Center - are three works by Alex Katz from his “White Shirts” series. The compositions feature similarly posed male figures in crisp dress shirts, rendered in his signature flat and vibrant, ad-like style. Here, Katz distills the figure to its essentials, highlighting playful differences from work to work such as colored ties, distinctive facial features, and creatively patterned backdrops.
Among the many gems came across at the Dallas Art Fair was work by Beverly Penn. Known for casting foraged weeds and various plants in bronze, Penn transforms overlooked forms into intricate sculptures that blur the line between the natural world and human intervention. What makes the work all the more captivating, is the shadows!
Nothing short of magical! ✨ This drawing by Ping Zheng acquired from @sevensistershouston punctuates our client’s boys’ room, bringing a punch of playfulness and imagination to the space - perfectly paired with the dinosaur sculpture below. Known for her flat, brightly colored landscapes, Zheng infuses the room with a dreamlike sense of wonder.
Installed in a Houston office, this painting by Matt Kleberg extends the viewer’s gaze down the hallway like an abstract portal- framed seamlessly within the architecture while extending the viewpoint into infinite depths of blue.
On view at Harpers in NYC, JJ Manford’s paintings layer vibrant interiors, personal narrative, and sly art historical nods, feeling at once playful and deeply immersive. @harpersbooks@jjmanford
Happy Monday from KAC! A little pop of red to jump start your week from this bold Milton Avery painting, installed last week in our client’s home in Houston.
We love thinking outside the box when it comes to displaying art. We custom built these plinths to elevate our client’s sculptures, framing them on either side of the beautifully draped window to create an unexpected moment where architecture, design, and art elegantly converge.
KAC’s Emma, immersed in “Chuck Close: On Paper” on view at Pace Gallery in NY. Spanning decades of Close’s practice, this monumental presentation highlights his radical approach to portraiture, and expansive body of work. The full frame installation mirrors Close’s approach to art making, where individual elements create one striking, unified experience.
We have so much exciting work to share from our visit to Dallas this past week, we don’t know where to begin! The lovely @dallasinvitational offers a unique opportunity to discover art in the warm, intimate setting of a hotel room in lieu of the traditional art fair booth format. We loved this creative use of the patio to display this @nfarhi_ painting with @europa.nyc .
