The directors of the films that will be part of the Context Palestine exhibition (curated by
@kinopalestine ) are 𝙆𝙖𝙢𝙖𝙡 𝘼𝙡𝙟𝙖𝙛𝙖𝙧𝙞 & 𝙏𝙝𝙚𝙤 𝙋𝙖𝙣𝙖𝙜𝙤𝙥𝙤𝙪𝙡𝙤𝙨 ➫
𝙆𝙖𝙢𝙖𝙡 𝘼𝙡𝙟𝙖𝙛𝙖𝙧𝙞, palestinian filmmaker and artist, is internationally recognized for his singular cinematic language. His films and installations have been presented at major institutions and festivals worldwide, including the 35th Bienal de São Paulo, Locarno Film Festival, and retrospectives at IndieLisboa and the Spanish Cinematheque in Madrid. His recent works, A Fidai Film (2024) and With Hasan in Gaza (2025), have received major international acclaim and awards. In the exhibition Context Palestine, will be screening Aljafari’s film Paradiso, XXXI, 108 – a work that reflects his distinctive engagement with memory, image, and the layered histories embedded in place.
𝙏𝙝𝙚𝙤 𝙋𝙖𝙣𝙖𝙜𝙤𝙥𝙤𝙪𝙡𝙤𝙨 is a Greek-Lebanese-Palestinian filmmaker, programmer, and researcher based in Scotland. His work explores collective memory, displacement, fragmented identities, and resistance through anti-colonial, participatory, and archival approaches. His recent documentary essay, which will be also screened as part of the Context Palestine exhibition, The Flowers Stand Silently, Witnessing has been screened at over 200 festivals worldwide and received major international recognition, including awards at Sundance and IDFA, as well as nominations for a BAFTA and a European Film Award. Alongside his filmmaking practice, Panagopoulos works across curatorial and academic contexts.
