برنامج "أقصر من القصير" يعود في شهره الأخير 💫 في أبريل، نعرض أعمال Before Forgetting Film Collective، حيث تعكس مجموعة الأفلام القصيرة المختارة الحقائق السياسية التي تشكل واقعنا الحالي. تقدم هذه الأعمال أشكال مختلفة، تتنقل بين الأعمال الأرشيفية والشخصية والشاعرية، وتعيد النظر في تاريخ المقاومة وتطرح تساؤلات حول القوى التي تسيطر على عالمنا اليوم. Before Forgetting هي مجموعة تضم صناع أفلام وفنانين بصريين وكتاب وباحثين أكاديميين، يجمعهم اهتمام مشترك بالسينما في الإطار السياسي. نشأت المجموعة من خلال عروض و نقاشات سينمائية غير رسمية في ٢٠٢١، وانطلاقا من ذلك قدموا برامج عروض سينمائية عامة في كوبنهاغن وبرلين ومرسيليا. عن “أقصر من القصير” 💥💥، هو برنامج شهري يعيد إحياء الأفلام القصيرة على شاشة السينما. وسيتم عرض هذه الأفلام ضمن فقرة الإعلانات -عرض مفاجئ قبل الفيلم الرئيسي- بهدف التقديم للجمهور فنانين، أفكار، وحكايات جديدة ربما لم يلتقوا بها من قبل. SHORTER SHORTS is back for its last month 💫 This April, we’re spotlighting the work of Before Forgetting Film Collective, whose short film selection reflects on the political realities that define our present moment. Moving between archival, personal and poetic approaches, these works revisit histories of resistance and question the forces shaping our world today. Before Forgetting is an interdisciplinary group of filmmakers, visual artists, writers, and academics brought together through a politicised approach to cinema. Emerging from informal screenings and discussions in 2021, the group has since organised public film programmes across Copenhagen, Berlin, and Marseille. Announcing Movie night 05! A night of films, games, thrifts and more. This time we’ve invited Kino Cairo— Presenting a selection of short films by Italian director Alice Rohrwacher. A prolific filmmaker, Rohwacher has remained committed to the short-film format over the years, despite the success of her many feature length projects (La Chimera, Happy As Lazzaro).  Children feature heavily in the films of Alice Rohwacher – their curiosity guiding us like a thread through her stories; their subjectivity imbued with a magic that transforms her naturalistic cinema into something charmed and fable-like. Join us as we travel with Alice Rohrwacher across a stretch of imagined time, through contemporary Paris and the timeless Tuscan countryside. The selection features a collaboration with French artist JR, as well as a short film commissioned by Italian fashion brand Miu Miu. Doors open at 8 🔦

PRESENTING… SKIES OF LEBANON 🇱🇧 ✨ FILM SCREENING & DISCUSSION WITH DIRECTOR 🎥 Two.Five and the French Institute in Egypt are delighted to present the screening of SOUS LE CIEL D’ALICE (Skies of Lebanon) by Franco-Lebanese director Chloe Mazlo. Inspired by the story of Mazlo’s grandmother, the film follows Alice, who leaves her native Switzerland for Beirut in the 1950s, finding love and a new life in a soon-to-be war-torn country. Skies of Lebanon is Mazlo’s debut feature film, characterized by her signature blend of animation and live narrative. It was featured at the 2020 Cannes Semaine de la Critique. The screening will be followed by a discussion with the director, who is visiting Cairo as a senior mentor in Two.Five’s development programme for young & emerging filmmakers. In 2015, Les Petits cailloux won the Best Animated Short Film award at the César. Kino Cairo X Two.Five present… A SELECTION OF SHORTS BY CHLOE MAZLO ✨ Franco-Lebanese filmmaker Chloe Mazlo is a bold voice of contemporary independent cinema. With a background in animation and graphic design, Mazlo’s debut feature film SKIES OF LEBANON / SOUS LE CIEL D’ALICE (2020) is an intimate retelling of her grandmother’s life and marriage in Lebanon from the 1950s and beyond, and was featured in the Cannes Director’s Fortnight. This Tuesday, we will be screening a selection of Mazlo’s short films: existential explorations of love and anxiety presented in her signature stop-motion style, beginning with in her own body and returning again and again to her beloved Beirut. As part of Two.Five’s second edition, we will be hosting a masterclass with Chloe Mazlo as well as a screening of her debut feature SKIES OF LEBANON later this month!
