HÆDER TIL KINGA BARTIS PÅ BRANDTS Britiske Frieze, som er en af verdens førende platforme for moderne kunst og samtidskunst, har gennem deres Frieze New Writers kåret ungarske Kinga Bartis’ soloudstilling på Kunstmuseum Brandts som en af syv “Best Shows in the Nordics”. Frieze er dedikeret til kunstnere, gallerier og samlere i hele verden og står blandt andet bag Frieze Magazine og fem internationale messer i New York, L.A., London og Seoul. På Brandts arbejder vi for at gøre museet i Odense til et levende sted for dansk og international kunst med høj kvalitet og vigtige budskaber —og dejligt, når det er Bartis’ stille, men fængslende maleri, der bliver bemærket. I have been sitting with this since the opening of Closelings because It feels strange and inappropriate to promote anything regarding art and practice while the world is becoming a horrible place to be living in. Stupidity selfishness hurting others and hunger for power is something I can’t wrap my head around. But the bullies are not only those politicians and leaders. They are not only on the internet, but on plain sight, they hide as our dearests. Hence the OG seed for the work; is not to give in to these sick realities and their abuse and lies. To me the work is saying “No, but!” CLOSELINGS doesn’t have to be emotional, but it’s relational. It’s not a dream nor a nostalgic exercise to capture. But to note_, share_ and cultivate _ CLOSELINGS is the basics, what’s between 0 and 1. Seeking and insisting to the possibilities of ending these lived nightmares through rethinking belonging, connections, change, impermanence and finding the nearest hope, in our own real time.
