My statement on Governor Kemp's decisions this week...
This week, Governor Kemp signed into law a bevy of laws aimed at targeting Black elected officials, diluting the votes of Black communities, severely underfunding our state... and dismantling life-saving programs across Georgia.
Kemp continues to purposely underfund our state, further eroding Georgia’s trust in the government’s ability to better the lives of our people. He has taken a page directly out of Trump’s playbook: lower taxes for corporations and the wealthy... while cutting funding for the working class.
While other states have worked to fill their revenue gaps created by extensive federal cuts, Kemp has chosen the opposite- adding insult to injury. Vital programs, state employees, and aid recipients have already faced unprecedented losses across the state this year. This week, Kemp further decimated the lives of Georgians and the programs built to help them. By vetoing much-needed funding for domestic violence and sexual assault survivors, children in foster care, kids facing food insecurity, unhoused veterans, and more, Kemp has sacrificed the lives of the very people who most need help on the altar of “fiscal conservatism”.
I urge you to go out and vote as if the lives of our most vulnerable neighbors depend on it... because they do.

Happy Mother’s Day to my beloved, Trina. I am so glad that we get to be moms together. Thank you for saying, “Yes,” to a little toddler who loved to climb and was eager to love.
A deep word of gratitude to our boys biological mother. When faced with impossible choices, she entrusted her children to our care. We are so incredibly blessed and honored to mother Reece and Khalil.
To all mothers, may you have a blessed day this day, and always.
To all who grieve — grieve the loss of a mom, a child, of the hope of having children, may you find comfort in knowing that your pain and grief is shared and seen by countless others.

This might seem like a "nominal" office, but it's one of the most important offices in our state! It's about more than quickly clicking a name on your ballot- this vote will make or break how our Senate body is run (and therefore affect the entire workings of the GA legislature!).
