While designing a show in the studio, I never really get to take a big step back. Seeing the artworks thread together as a whole is gratifying. I especially love the aesthetic of the unfinished edges of the space, which is complementary to the paintings.

It could be described as a love hate relationship I’ve had painting the disappearing edges of the city, its shifting atmosphere, the soft hum of streetlights, and the overlooked spaces slowly erased by change. In the painting “Pay Little” the composition feels cinematic and exact; up close, it dissolves into loose, intuitive, expressive brushwork alive with movement. Through the layers of oil paint, as color and form shift and settle into focus; memories and meaning awaken. These paintings reflect and tell a story about the city before, what we preserve, and where we’re headed.

Morning Calm
38” X 50”
oil on canvas
“Morning Calm” is a painting inspired by driving through the neighborhood where I use to live for several years to the beach at dawn. The winds are calm and there’s some fog lingering over the ocean. It’s a subject I could probably paint over and over differently each time because of the ever shifting light and atmosphere. This painting is included in my solo exhibition “Afterlight,” at Maybaum Gallery which is now on view May - June, 48 Stockton Street, Downtown San Francisco. Details can be found on my website. Please visit and have a look upclose in person!✨

After several attempts to paint this tree, I settled on an expressive interpretation. The process revealed an ongoing dialogue of structural vs. natural forms. Painting the tree too literally overpowered the entire painting, while oversimplification or removing the tree entirely would be too drastic of a change. The final version of the tree is subtle and balances the entire composition. Clearly not AI generated.
Busy preparing for my solo exhibition this May at @maybaumgallery . The show will be held at the historic Barney's retail store downtown. Come experience the new artworks up close in person. ✨

This painting captures a view of City Hall from the old theater on the corner of Van Ness during the 2010 World Series. The dome of City Hall was illuminated orange, marking the Giants’ monumental championship—their first World Series win in over 50 years.
When I couldn’t meet up with friends to watch the games at the local bar, I listened to the games on the radio in the background while working in the studio. There’s a distinct feeling listening to the announcers, the sounds of the ballpark, and the crowd’s reactions — the excitement is contagious.
Initially, I had the idea to limit the painting to a palette of orange and black, but it gradually evolved to include a broader range of colors. As the composition developed, form became more abstract and simplified. More than anything, the painting serves as a reminder of a special time in the city, when people of all ages and backgrounds came together in celebration.

We are saddened to say goodbye to our mom this week 3.04.26. She was devoted to my father, best loving mom to our family, and a compassionate nurse who spent her life caring for others. I’m very grateful to have been raised by such a loving supportive family.
After 8 years of facing dementia, we find solace in knowing she is reunited with my dad and at peace.
Her strength and heart will always be in our memories. We love you mom ❤️.
