So I just watched the movie "Seconds" from 1966 and man was this good. I have a thing for black and white horror movies to begin with so i knew that I was at least going to like the aesthetic. This movie had great pacing, especially for the fact of most of it is just 1 on 1 conversations. Husband to wife, friend to friend patient to doctor, etc. Just lots of talking. But the concept of the movie is brilliant and the camera work and effects that they use really help out the unsettling tone if the film. Would you give up your life to start over again as somebody new in order to achieve your dreams? And what happens when you don't achieve your dreams? I know this movie won't be for everybody but I loved it.
Parts of it reminded me of The Substance and parts reminded me of La Cabina

NH based Powerviolence duo Tin Mans Sheet Metal Caulk will be dropping their debut EP titled "Metillica Wrote Songs Longer Than This EP" very soon and i got to have an early listen. Honestly saying the name of it may take longer than the EP itself. At just 3min 53secs these 3 songs breeze by and it don't help that there's an intro too but damn am i hooked.
TxMxSxMxC has such a unique sounds where there is Powerviolence and Hardcore at its base but with a groovy rhythm draped over it all. First track "Battle of Self" is a slow burn into a catchy riff reminiscent of New England heavy hitters Seeker Destroyer but the nostalgia doesn't last forever because as soon as the sample subsides the vibes switch. Second track on the list is called Spit Fire and for a solid minute I did not not know wiener to Charlie Briwn dance or Commit a violent crime, either way I wanted to fuckin move. That's what this group does well, invoking something inside you to get the hell up. Instrumentally this is a what a mosh pit sounds like and vocally giving me shades of Corporate Avenger (where my old dudes at?) The beginning of this track got me jamming for real.
While the first track had groove, second track had heaviness, the final song had speed. Carrying over that Vocal to each and effect but accompanied by far thrashing drums before abandoning all of that's in the final seconds and delivering a breakdown to end it all showcasing a "fuck you" attitude as only 2 ski masked hardcore kids can. Overly all I Wawa very impressed but what they managed to do in less than 4 minutes. Covering multiple styles, feelings and and aggression levels. I can't wait to see them live.
Debut EP will be dropping publicly soon
