Time, space and support to experiment — that’s what Next STAGE is all about 🌱 Here’s a peek from our recent Next STAGE Showcase, where Singapore-based artists Adam de la Cour and weird aftertaste’s bl duo presented 404: Panto.exe to a live audience. Shaped by the restless logic of the digital age, the piece unfolds like an endless scroll — a bold, thoughtful glimpse into ideas still in the making. 👀✨ Have a risky or unfinished idea you can’t stop thinking about? 🎨 This is your sign. 📢 Applications for Next STAGE are now open and we’re calling creatives across all art forms. 🔗 Link in bio for details. Let’s take it to the Next STAGE. 🔥 #ArtsHouseGroup #WhereTheArtsLive #NextSTAGE #SingaporeArts #SGartists

Another beautifully produced edition from Verlag Neue Musik. Block for solo viola (2012) The audio is of the premiere performance at LSO St Luke's, by Paul Silverthorne as part of a Sound hub Showcase Concert. I wonder if I can persuade them to produce a limited run that comes with a nice block of cheese? Any other ideas welcome. #musicscore #viola

Singapore shenanigans! What an incredible experience, plus I had the best hosts anyone could ask for in @bwlypd , wonderful human beings that also happen to be super incredible musicians! Hopefully this LARGE scale work will be ready for Christmas NEXT year. I also fulfilled my dream of performing with the inimitable @violachristoven and possibly introducing Singapore to the music of the mighty Chris Newman. Merry Christmas one and all! #panto?

I've been getting back into my comics of late, I bought these four this year, and each one of them is a banger! I have a real nostalgia for the 2000AD comics of the 80s, I clearly remember popping down to the local newsagents after primary school and reading through the most recent copy. Judge Dredd stood out for me, especially (at that point) the artwork of Brian Bolland. I distinctly remember experiencing new, confusing feelings, conjured up by the heady mix of violence, dark humour and social satire on display: 'what is this stuff?', 'who is it for?' 'this ain't the Dandy!' A Dredd story about acid rain (that actually melted people) really made a mark in my fragile, 8yr old brain. I've been aware of these four comics for years, but only just read them. Pat Mills and Kevin O'Neill's Marshal Law is a genuinely hilarious take down of the superhero genre; the protagonist 'hero' himself is pretty much a gestapo-gimp. O'Neill's artwork is incredible, it's dynamic and often ugly, which suits the writing perfectly. Alan Moore and Ian Gibson's Halo Jones is a remarkable, unfinished gem, it's the everyday details of Halo's journey that sticks, in a very short time you believe you know her (at least I did) and you're fully invested in her story. The environments penned here are outstanding. Mills and O'Neill's Nemesis the Warlock is a violent, satirical and hilarious fantasy epic; the bad guys are really bad... but so are the 'goodies'. Ranx, well, this is something, most definitely not for kids. I remember this character being advertised in the 80s UK Marvel comics I bought, his first UK appearance I believe would have been in Heavy Metal magazine (they even made a video game!). Liberatori and Tamburini created a grotesque, fascistic dystopia, within which our cyberpunk cyborg (made from spare photocopying machine parts) causes berserker mayhem. The artwork here is something to behold. Is this kind of work being created today? I've read a fair amount of new comics, but nothing really touches this stuff, especially in terms of cultural observation, dark humour and genuinely nuanced perspectives on morality, but maybe I'm just old? You still reading this? #comic
