A typeface I made this year, inspired by ASCII art and bringing the analogue into the digital because typewriters are beautiful objects āļø
Each letter was drawn using the asterisk key on a typewriter. I named it Royal 200, after the typewriter it was made on (thank you Zoe for lending!).
Hello this is my project I worked on this last year for UTS visual communications Honours, and it is called Tending to Scraps! I think this is a project that embraced my lens as a sentimental, craft-oriented person and designer.
It came from observing the material sustainability practices in fashion, and asking why I couldnāt seem to grasp my own discipline of Visual Communication Designās responsibilities in this space, as a practice long intertwined with capitalism and consumerism (sorry to drop the Cās like this š).
My final project takes form as a collection of experiments (many of which Iāve already shared) and the research that informed them from my thesis. Ultimately itās about having a design practice centred in care, craft and slow making. š
