At the same time, she is exploring language itself, how it is formed, broken, and reassembled, treating image and text as intertwined systems of record and endurance.
The Phoenician alphabet was one of the earliest known phonetic writing systems, developed by the Phoenician civilization along the eastern Mediterranean coast. Unlike earlier complex writing systems, it used a small set of characters representing sounds, making writing more accessible and influential.
It became the foundation for many later alphabets, including Greek and Latin, shaping how much of the modern world writes today.
Beyond its technical importance, it reflects a key cultural shift in the ancient Levant, from symbolic inscription to structured, portable language.
