This week, Kieser Ringwood member, Anthony Abbey, reached an incredible milestone as part of his participation in Move Around Australia – officially completing 500 strength training sessions at Kieser!
Anthony began his Kieser journey in 2020 and has been committed to 2 assisted training sessions per week for nearly six years. Recently, he’s also been working closely with our exercise physiology team on his cardio fitness and balance.
Anthony’s motivation for participating in Move Around Australia is a special one. With retirement kicking off this July, he’s focused on being as strong and fit as possible ahead of a big European adventure with his wife and fellow long‑time member, Judy.
What Anthony values most is the collaborative approach to health at Kieser – working with the Kieser team to support his long‑term movement and wellbeing.
“Kieser has made a huge difference to how I feel and how I move over the last six years.”
Congratulations, Anthony, on 500 sessions and all the hard work you’re putting in ahead of retirement and travel. We’re excited to see where the journey takes you 🌍✨
When was the last time you had your blood pressure checked? Come along with Heidi, a survivor of stroke, as she shows just how simple it can be. When she arrives at Kieser, she checks in, takes a few minutes to rest so the reading is accurate, then the cuff goes on. A few quiet moments, a couple of readings, a quick chat about the results… and that’s it. Quick. Easy. Really important. High blood pressure often has no symptoms, and many people don’t know they have it. It’s one of the biggest risk factors for stroke. Heidi says it best. "Make sure you know your numbers. It could save your life." If you’re not already having your blood pressure checked, you can visit your local pharmacy or your doctor. Please don’t wait. Knowing your numbers could save your life. Thank you @Kieser Australia for supporting Australia's Biggest Blood Pressure Check. #AustraliasBiggestBloodPressureCheck #ABBPC #MMM
@heartfoundationau 's Heart Health Week is a good time to rethink what we mean by “heart‑healthy” exercise.
When it comes to better heart health, strength training isn’t usually front of mind.
Instead, the conversation usually centres on walking, running, or cycling.
These are all important - but they’re only part of the picture.
Because strength training is now recognised as an evidence-based tool for improving cardiovascular health.
The most recent American Heart Association (AHA) scientific statement makes it clear how strength training can improve:
❣️ Blood pressure
❣️ Cholesterol levels
❣️ Body composition
❣️ Blood glucose control
❣️ Overall cardiovascular disease risk
And the research shows these effects often aren’t small, either.
The AHA statement highlights studies showing:
❣️ Blood pressure reductions of ~4-6 mmHg in some groups
❣️ Improvements in HbA1c of ~0.3% in those with type 2 diabetes
❣️ Increases in lean body mass and reductions in body fat levels
The good news is the biggest reductions in cardiovascular risk were seen with just 30-60 minutes of strength training per week.
That means improving your heart health doesn’t have to mean spending hours in the gym.
It’s about applying the right stimulus consistently over time.
This is why every Kieser member follows a personalised strength program, designed and regularly reviewed by a physiotherapist or exercise physiologist.
When done properly, strength training supports more than strength alone.
It also has an important role to play in heart health.

Meet Anne, a member at Kieser Ocean Grove, aged 80.
When Anne first started training, she wasn’t convinced it would make much difference. Like many people, she assumed getting weaker was just part of ageing.
Then one day at the supermarket she noticed she’d squatted down to reach a bottom shelf and stood back up again – without holding onto anything.
After taking a short break from training for family reasons, Anne became very aware of the difference that staying active made for her, both physically and mentally. Now, she makes time each week so she can keep doing the things that are important to her and continue caring for the people she loves.
Today is National Healthy Ageing Day. This year’s theme, 'keep doing what matters', highlights that healthy ageing isn’t about stopping – it’s about staying capable, independent, and involved for as long as possible.
Anne’s experience is a great reminder that staying active can support confidence and independence at any age.

Our 12th Annual Kieser Charity Golf Day brought members, team and supporters together for a fantastic day on the course, proudly supporting Kids First.
Thanks to everyone involved, we raised $78,000+, helping fund the development of engaging, age‑appropriate videos that teach body safety and consent – supporting children to understand their rights, build confidence, and feel safe in their relationships with adults and peers.
From the 18‑hole competition to the beginner‑friendly skills clinic, it was a day full of movement, connection and purpose.
A sincere thank you to everyone who played, donated or supported the day, and to our generous sponsors: Kevin Wood & Family, Commonwealth Bank, CS&G Signs, Virtual IT Group (VITG), Insite Projects, and Maurice Blackburn Lawyers.
Meet Peter, a Kieser Heidelberg member, as he shares why the B5 machine is his favourite.
The B5 , also known as the leg curl machine, is the machine we use to help build strong hamstring muscles – supporting everyday tasks like walking, climbing stairs, getting in and out of a chair and lifting from the ground.
Well done to Peter on staying consistent and seeing progress beyond the clinic 👏
If you’d like to include this machine in your program, speak with your exercise scientist.
