Have you ever wanted to run your own cafe? And also be a cute Capybara? If so- your dreams can come true with Cafe Baras, a card-drafting/ tableaux building game Beanie and I have been loving recently. Read on for our review! (Kindly gifted by @kidstablebg ) 🔢 2-4 players 👧🏻 8+ ⏰ 30 minutes ☕️ GAMEPLAY ☕️ On your go, you play a card from your hand. You can pay the card’s cost, and add it to your cafe as a drink/ snack/ furniture item. Or you can use the card as a customer, and serve them to gain more coins. If your cafe contains all the items the customer wants, they become a regular customer! At the end of the game, you earn points for items in your cafe, number of regular customers and also if you have managed to meet any of the “special guest” requirements! The person with the most points has the most successful cafe and wins! 🌟 What we loved 🌟 - Let’s start with the super cute artwork, I just love all the cards and all the capy characters (swipe to see) - Clear rulebook that was easy to understand and follow - We loved the gameplay, slowly building up our cafe to get more and more happy customers (there some engine building here too) 🌧️ What could be an issue 🌧️ - The multiuse card (can either be an item or a customer) takes a little bit of getting used to, mum struggled with this concept ☕️ SUMMARY ☕️ Beanie and I really enjoyed this game, it’s quick but satisfying, and looks lovely. It’s a good game to start building on strategy and engine building with kids, and it was lovely to see how her gameplay improved over subsequent plays 🏆 VERDICT: ☕️☕️☕️☕️ 🎁 Consider getting this if 🎁 You are looking for a cute and enjoyable card game to help develop your child’s gameplay, and that will also be really fun for you! This is our entry for #firstimpressionsfriday🎲 (@nerdygirlgaming ) and also #gameoftheweek (@tubbsplaysgames )

|| P || Pack & Paddle: Ben Rosset • Matthew O'Malley • Emma Gauhl • @kidstablebg "The car is packed, nature is calling, and the time is right to get away from it all for a few days. Raise your tent and unplug for a weekend in the great outdoors..." Pack & Paddle is a simultaneous action selection game for 1-4 players, ages 10+ and 45 min duration where your goal is to have the best camping trip. This is of course measured by your victory points. Each day some random weather will limit some of your actions, and contribute to end game scoring. Everyone has the same action cards, and the better the action, the lower you are on turn order for the round (you'll bid for your turn order at the start of the round by secretly selecting one of the 5 action cards and revealing it at the same time). During your turn, you will collect a supply tile, and a combination of firewood and moving forward on the canoe race track. Then you'll do the action on the card: hiking lets you collect animal tiles (spotting them, not kidnapping!) planning outings gives you a chance to enhance your future actions, or you can opt to collect more firewood or get further ahead in the canoe race. At the end of the day, you'll use firewood to build campfires which give you end game scoring, and award medals for the winner of the canoe race. All ties are broken by the tiebreaker track, which you can move up on with certain actions. At the end of the game, you declare victory over camping and your opponents. Then you count up your points to see if you can back up your hubristic boasting. 💭 Even though this is a prototype, it looked pretty final to us. I played it with my friends Meg @megthegpmom and Scott and from two experienced campers as they are, they could confirm that many of the touch points of the game really capture the planning and the atmosphere of camping and the scoring had a lot of humorous and clever camping thoughts put into it!! Pack & Paddle is available on Kickstarter now and successfully funded!! I'll add the link in my bio and in stories!! If you love camping as much as we do, you can't miss it!! Thank you so much @kidstablebg for the opportunity to play it!!

🏕️ Pack & Paddle 🛶 Pack & Paddle is designed by Matthew O'Malley and Ben Rosset, it's illustrated by Emma Gauhl, and published by @kidstablebg , who helped sponsor our preview video on YouTube! Learn More: /projects/kidstablebg/pack-and-paddle Pack & Paddle is a strategic tile-drafting game where you'll build out a campsite over a three-day canoe trip, balancing resource management, set collection, and timing. Each day, the available options shift based on changing weather, influencing which outings you can plan and how different elements will score. Throughout the game, you'll draft supply tiles, gather wood, observe animals, and prepare outings, all while managing when to act first through a shared action card system. Choosing when to prioritize turn order versus stronger abilities is key, especially as you’re also advancing along the canoe track to earn medals at the end of each day. Question of the Day: Share a camping experience with us! #PackandPaddle #BoardGames #TableTopGames #Kickstarter
