"Great wines are made in the vineyard. Every vintage leaves clues, patterns hidden in the vines waiting to be understood."
For Kiara Scott Farmer, Cellar Master at Hazendal, harvest is a season defined by movement and meaning. It represents the culmination of months shaped by sun, rain and wind, and reflects the commitment of a team who tend the vineyards by hand throughout the year, from pruning to the careful selection of each bunch.
Working with just twelve hectares of prime viticultural land, Kiara draws inspiration from a site enriched by three distinct soil types of weathered granite, quartz and shale. The unique coastal influence brings a natural cooling that encourages an elegance that is deeply characteristic of Hazendalâs wines. Each vintage offers a fleeting moment in time, an opportunity to capture the essence of place and climate with honesty and intention.
Kiara's winemaking style is rooted in balance and integrity. She enjoys exploring techniques that showcase the natural character of the fruit while preserving its clarity. This philosophy guides her minimal intervention approach which allows the wines to express their terroir with purity and authenticity.

Thereâs just something about the entrance to this old fortified city, sitting at the top of a hill in Evora.
Feeling a little nostalgic - take me back.

Feeling so blessed and energized today after meeting the super talented @kiarascott05 , the new winemaker for @brookdale_estate_sa . So inspiring to meet another female who feels so passionate about what she does and is so excited to take on the world đđź The second photo is basically me trying to pay attention to the conversation whilst her and Kat nerd out about the technical stuff, but in reality I was just mesmerized by this marvelous energy in front of me đ #sommlife #southafricanwomen #womenempoweringwomen #southafricanwine #sommelier #wine #womeninwine #womeninbusiness #womenwhohustle #winetasting #winelovers
