Inspired by the rare all-black penguin, @desertedinurban created a personal iteration of the KHOLA Exterior Boot that balances monochromatic black layering with an orange sole inspired by the penguin’s beak.
Constructed in Los Angeles using KHOLA’s modular system. A Limited Edition run of 10 pairs.

Originally introduced in the 1960s, the Dr. Martens silhouette became a cultural staple across punk, workwear, and underground music communities // recognized for its durable leather uppers,
yellow welt stitching, and grooved sole edges.
The original sole unit is replaced with a glue-less KHOLA system, enabling full disassembly, resoling, and future reconfiguration.
Built to evolve over time rather than be discarded.

stripping things back to their core, exposing structure before rebuilding.
Together, we transformed existing footwear into three 1-of-1 KHOLABs, adapting the
KHOLA glue-less system. Each pair carries its past life forward, entering a new modular future.
