We have an incredible lineup ahead, from collaborating with Awadagin Pratt, Charles Yang, Concertmaster Zulfiya Bashirova, Principal Flute Elvin Schlanger to our highly anticipated production of Porgy and Bess. 🎻🎭
Looking further ahead to June, I can’t wait to return to Japan to conduct the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra and the NHK Symphony Orchestra. It’s going to be a month of deep musical connections and world-class artistry across two continents! 🏙️✈️🇯🇵

One of the most beautiful things happened to me for the very first time in my life. ✨
After our Tokyo Symphony Orchestra concert at Suntory Hall finished, the entire orchestra had already exited the stage. I was walking back, ready to get changed in my dressing room, when the stage manager stopped me. He told me I needed to return to the stage because the wonderful TSO fans were still applauding, wanting one last solo bow. 🎻🙌
I just broke into tears. It was such a special, overwhelming moment of connection and gratitude. Truly a moment I will remember for the rest of my life. 😭❤️

In 2008, when my husband and I were living in New Mexico and Keitaro was in Arizona, he would often drive out to visit for the weekend, cook us some delicious veggie tempura, and spend the day coaching my voice students.
Funny how, 18 years later, life has changed so much for both of us, yet in many ways, it looks the same—prioritizing precious friendships and investing in young musicians.
Maestro, thank you for sharing such meaningful insights with our studio community this weekend.
