Notice me signal the crowd to “shhhh” bc they started going crazy before I revealed even 30% power, I was barely getting started and tried to pace myself. If they went too crazy too early I’d really have to kick it up a notch too early against other opponents. This was only the 1st opponent. It was my 2nd year winning this battle tournament. Wouldn’t have entered it if my friends didn’t nag me to battle but I’m glad they did. Whats crazy is I was damn near falling asleep during all these improv rounds I was too calm and held back to retain self control. Came a long way.

Many years after my first death, I still reflect on how many people aren’t here today. How many that are passing on each second as I write this and as you read this now.
As I swiftly navigate through near death experiences and dreams coming true, I take trips to my domain to remind myself to live in a way that honors the blessing of still existing and being given the grace to ever exist, along side you all 🖤 in such a
beautiful story this world is.
Since a kid, people always made it clear to me that I’ve been here maany times before. If I move on to the next stage and don’t get to see you guys in the next life, let me spend this one serving the world and reminding you of 2 things.
1. There’s nothing that can truly spoil the most high blessing that you still exist.
2. There’s no achievement in this life that could ever dream of topping the incomprehensible miracle that against INFINITE odds, you ever existed in first place.

Dancing from the heart won’t look pretty or impressive all the time but don’t beat yourself up about it because it was never meant to.
My take on dancing from the heart reveals my innate disdain towards shallow things who’s value lies purely on the surface, in how aesthetically pleasing or “pretty” something is, absent of depth.
For me, dancing from the heart is NOT that.
When you’re face to face with your inner world, insecurities, emotions, imagination, dreams, fears, and encouraged by the music, that’s the magical dimension you arrive in, that’s when you’re dancing from the heart.
Everything flows as your body sings its original song.
It’s like shadow work through movement. I believe this is an ancient thing that extends far beyond any “style”.
It’s like an ancient human function that we transpose via movement. Who gives af if it meets someone’s aesthetic standards.
There’s nothing more enchanting than getting lost in the deeper dimensions of dance, the things you can feel but most can’t see.
This doesn’t mean dancing from the heart can’t look pretty, it means it doesn’t have to so stop beating yourself up about it.

If you stopped dancing, all it takes is a warm up of the engine or shaking some dust off for your body to wake up and go “oh I understand now”. It’s never gone.
The dancer in you might be hibernating but they didn’t die. It just means you have to wake em up.
Don’t let it sleep dormant for too long. The deeper the sleep, the more it takes to wake up.

Dancing around other musicality inclined dancers mean all your details are caught and there’s no need to hold back as much. Tbh tho any classic RnB track unlocks my flow state. And ofc dancing with other ppl of other styles that inspire me.

“Ballet is the mother of all dance” she said, with a straight face, innocent look in her eye.
I stood there stunned, processing what she said as a volcano of laughter was boiling up about to erupt.
I tried to hold it back but the casual normal look on her face added to the blasphemy and it the laughter exploded making me bend forward almost falling on the floor.
I just thought about all the different rich cultures around the world. The countless dances within Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, north and South America. To utter that all dance came from ballet just required such a finite capacity of thinking that it made me laugh.
But maybe there was truth to what she said? I can’t presume that I know everything. If anyone knows the history, feel free to share your thoughts :)

Dance exposes the relationship you have with yourself when you freestyle or improvise. Why? It’s raw, real.
You don’t have time to put on a mask or hide behind premeditated movement.
Are you loving and patient with yourself? Or are you rushing to find something worthy of external validation?
Are you ok with being your quirky weird, unique self, allowing any idea to the surface or do you hide, and only do what everyone does to fit in.
Are you ok with being still and not knowing what to do in that moment? Or is stillness unbearable?
Are you fulfilled in solitude or does your flow require company to be activated?
Are you attached to an identity/ego dictating the perimeters of how you can and cannot move?

I was in the middle of feeling the music in my own world like usual. That’s how I grew up dancing which isn’t common for settings like this. I suddenly feel a presence approach, I look up and didn’t even have time to process who it is or what was happening. I just let let go and the rest happen on its own.
That’s what most really want, the ability to dance confidently without thinking.
In that moment I had no idea I was dancing with a local legend, but I didn’t need to. I just needed to trust the moment and feel the music.
