ICON by @dsquared2 You choose certainty. I choose fluidity. Society constantly tries to define people through categories, expectations, and roles. Identity is often shaped by systems that assign meaning to our way of existing. Even things like fragrance or appearance become coded signals. Not just personal choices, but expectations projected onto the body. Gender is often reduced to a binary framework, even though human identity was never meant to fit into only two boxes. These categories are not natural truths, they are constructed systems. Gender roles are coded, learned, and reinforced, not fixed. Norms can describe patterns, but they should never define human individuality. Although the system refuses to recognize gender diversity, its presence remains. The options given are not choices - they are limitations created by a system that prefers simplicity over complexity. Identity is not selected. It is lived - shifting and beyond labels or permission. My existence is not a category. Over seven million people, endless movement, voices, and lights. A place that breathes, vibrates, and tells a new story with every step. During a short stay, we knew we had to capture something here. Without much preparation, but with all the more feeling, a film emerged that far exceeded our expectations. At its heart is a young woman wandering through the streets, harbors, and alleyways of Hong Kong. Through her eyes, we experience a city full of contradictions - dense, loud, and intense, yet also vulnerable and contemplative. Amidst neon lights, skyscrapers, and fleeting encounters, a feeling of both closeness and distance arises. The result is a cinematic portrait that reveals the beauty, harshness, and depth of Hong Kong. A work driven by spontaneity, curiosity, and encounters with people who quickly became familiar to us. The film tells the story not just of a place, but of a feeling - of belonging and alienation, of longing, identity, and the quiet moments behind all the noise. Hong Kong appears here not as a backdrop, but as a living character that moves, challenges, and inspires.

WONG HO YING — BTS „What started as a small passion project turned into one of my favorites this year. we spent the day running through hong kong chasing light, sound, and moments. When you’re creative, you sometimes get stuck in a loop where you stop developing and just keep repeating yourself. For me, the best feeling is when you can break out of this loop with a project that initially seemed insignificant, and the project takes on a whole new meaning. For me, this project was that breakout from the loop. No preparation, just raw shooting of a person in a city I didn’t know and somehow, everything felt new again. grateful for everyone who reached out and wanted to be part of it. really appreciate you, all“ 🤍 -nils ✨ dropping sunday 18:00 ✨
