We start this Wednesday, and there’s still space for ages 5–10. (If you have a precocious 4-year-old or an older child — 11/12 — feel free to reach out. West African Drumming Workshop with Mapathé Diop 🌍🪘 Keys, Beats, Bars is honored to welcome back Mapathé Diop, a master drummer from Dakar, Senegal, for a special West African drumming workshop in our space. While in Oregon, Mapathé will also be working with young men in carceral facilities, sharing rhythm, culture, and creative expression through our core programming. This work—bringing music into spaces where it’s needed most—is at the heart of what we do at Keys, Beats, Bars. Join us for a hands-on introduction to Senegalese sabar drumming, a powerful tradition played with one stick and one hand.
