interrupting this beautiful color grid for some beautiful black and white images. got a wonderful opportunity to showcase some work with @monadnyc for their juneteenth photo exhibition. unfortunately, i won’t be able to attend due to other photo assignments, but if you are in brooklyn for juneteenth, please go celebrate black artists and black culture. as always, i am extremely grateful to have my work reach other realms.
a picnic quilt top, turning into a picnic quilt, created from recycled materials— couches found in east point, atlanta, and three shirts found in black bags on the street in the lower ninth ward, new orleans.

i knew brysin was a star the minute he stepped in front of the camera. i’m very good at making people feel confident in front of the lens, but when you show up already confident and know you were meant for this, it just hits a little different. in my opinion, these aren’t even the best photos from the set—just the ones i felt super connected to because of what he represented that day. as always, it’s a pleasure working with @materialinstitute@aimeetoledano .
i wanted to learn how to sew once upon a time, so i just started doing it. sometimes, i just do things because i can and because i enjoy them. enjoying something for the sake of enjoyment is reason enough to do what you want. i started sewing random things by hand. then one day, i was out in the wild and found a vintage singer sewing machine that still worked. that same day, I came across a stack of quilts and thought, hmm, i want to do this.
i researched, researched, and watched countless videos on “youtube university.” i have essentially taught myself how to do everything in my life. It’s both very rewarding and very frustrating. eventually, i joined a quilting group full of the most brilliant and fun ladies i have ever encountered. shoutout to the beecher quilting group from new orleans, la, led by the amazing cely pedescleaux. @cely_pedescleaux i love my quilting community. through them, i’ve gained so much knowledge and confidence in my quilting.
i started quilting in 2023, and on december 7th, I will be showing a few of my quilts for the very first time. i am incredibly proud of all the people i’ve met and everything i’ve gained because of quilting. also, the looks i get when i tell people i’m a quilter are absolutely hilarious!

how I’m feeling after getting adequate sleep for 3 days in a row: been going super hard trying to finish up some quilting projects. rest is more necessary than going super hard, but i’m going to do both. i have figured out the balancing act between the two.

images from a sidewalk steppers second line. took these on a mamiya 645. i love the challenge of trying to get the images in focus on a manual lens during so much energy and movement. in focus or out of focus i love second line images on film all the same.
no one was harmed in the making of these photos. love driving around the city and spotting the gang. I follow and get photos every single time. it’s worth it every single time.
