2nd place at @ibjjf No Gi Worlds today🥈 Master 1 Featherweight division. Felt great going up a weight class, I was able to secure 3 submissions in my first 3 matches. 2nd place at the @ibjjf PanAms 2024 🥈 I won my first two matches by advantages and found myself in the finals against the #1 seed. There is no room for error at these tournaments and I made a few small ones in the final that led to me getting submitted via armbar. Congratulations to my opponent from Belgium, very good competitor. I am proud of myself for medaling at another IBJJF Major, but once again I lose the finals. I will see that top spot soon. EBI 24: The Bantamweights. Officially an @ebiofficial combat jiu jitsu vet after this weekend. White belt me would be proud. Went 1-1 for the day, thank you @eddiebravo10p @victordavilaufc @tory.mvp for the special match opportunity before the final 🤝 This competition down in Monterrey, Mexico brought me to a new level of competition. I was able to make a mindset shift of “happy to be here”, to “I belong here”. Had a hard fought match with a stud Isaac Cordova. I had some solid sub attempts, a lot of strikes landed, and felt like I was controlling every bit of it, until all of a sudden I wasn’t anymore and I was tapping. That’s jiu jitsu 🤷🏻‍♂️ respect to Isaac for making the final and dominating that until losing in OT. Had a strong bounce back with the special match, where I was able to dominate positionally, land a few strikes and get the RNC. I know I can beat any of these guys on any given day. Can’t wait to compete for EBI again sometime in the near future. Went 2-1 at @battle_grappling yesterday in their 155 title bracket, losing the final. Hit a kneebar in my first match, and then a flying triangle to armbar in my semi final. Lost the final to my good friend and @10thplanetportland training partner @elimayne24 after a really competitive back and forth 6 minutes until he caught me with a heel hook. Found this sneaky counter to the shinbolo, stealing the position from our opponent into our own shinbolo 😏 Hitting some back & forth after classes @blackrosejiujitsu with my student Travis @towellt and adding in the calf slicer Coach Mikey showed, along with a crab ride back take 🦀 Shoutout Coach @michaelclingan10p , we’ve been playing with this position quite a bit @10thplanetportland and I found this counter in class last week during a game we were playing. #BlackRoseJiuJitsu #10thPlanetPortland

Went 3-1 at the @combatsportsreport Invitational yesterday in Portland, losing the finals in a wild match w/ @kengojj , respect and congratulations to him. Had a pretty smooth cut from 150lbs to 139.9lbs. Dieted well for a few weeks, and woke up 143lbs day of. I cut 3lbs in the hot bath and headed to the venue. Won my first match by decision and second by submission via toe hold. Felt like I was rehydrating well, but threw up a lot of water & electrolytes after the first two matches. Went into the third a few minutes later and secured another decision win to make the finals. Almost had a couple armbars and a footlock in the finals but got sniped with an inside heel hook, looking forward to competing against Kengo again in the future. Shoutout to my team @blackrosejiujitsu @10thplanetportland @albinoandpreto for all the support and to @jleal10p for the coaching 🙌🏼 Thank you CS/R for the great event, can’t wait to get onto another show sometime soon 🤝

At our gym, we are proud to have a strong women presence, led by two of our assistant coaches, brown belt Brandi Oliver and purple belt Winter Hand. Key parts of our gyms foundation. We wanted to brighten up our gym with a mural, and it was a no brainer to put them up on the wall. The painting and color scheme was based off our favorite brand, one Professor Kevin has had a relationship with for years, @albinoandpreto ; using two of their gis “Origami” and “Tranquility”. The Origami gi that Winter is wearing, has a story of the Turtle & The Crane illustrated on the back. An old tale that is “a symbol of wisdom & longevity. The water pattern, also known as Wagara, resembles our journey in jiu jitsu, representing the unwavering determination of the art.” The Tranquility gi Brandi is wearing, “represents the quality or state of being calm.” Something that is essential in the art of jiu jitsu. “The duo-tone ‘color blocking’ design symbolizes earth, trees and water.” We couldn’t be more happy with how it turned out.
