✨ Peace of the Week ✨
This week we’re featuring Star Gazer — our monumental duogami lily — captured in a beautiful 1.5-minute video of Kevin at McKee Botanical Garden.
Set against the lush, tropical backdrop of McKee, Star Gazer feels right at home. Nestled among palms and vibrant greenery, this large-scale fabricated lily somehow blends seamlessly into its surroundings — despite its impressive size and commanding presence. 🌿
In the video, Kevin shares a glimpse into the duogami process and how sheet metal is carefully fabricated to bring a flower like this to life. What begins as flat metal transforms — folded, shaped, and assembled — into a blooming sculpture that feels both powerful and delicate.
There’s something magical about seeing industrial material echo the elegance of nature, especially in a garden setting that celebrates growth, beauty, and imagination.
So why not take a minute to watch — and step into the story behind Star Gazer. 💛

✨ Peace of the Week: Celestial Navigator (2016) ✨
This week we’re featuring Celestial Navigator — a large-scale casting of an original abstract work by Kevin Box, beautifully gilded (3x) in luminous 23k gold.
One of Kevin’s favorite themes is the stars — the ancient markers that have guided humanity for millennia. Celestial Navigator reflects that timeless relationship between humanity and the cosmos. It speaks to exploration, wonder, direction, and the quiet pull of something greater than ourselves.
This sculpture began as a single folded origami form — delicate, intentional, and precise. In our 3-minute video, Kevin and Jennifer Box share the story behind the original fold and the transformation that followed.
You’ll hear about:
⭐ The inspiration behind the abstract composition
⭐ How a paper fold becomes a monumental bronze sculpture
⭐ The ancient and meticulous process of gilding in 23k gold
⭐ Why this piece is truly one of a kind
Gold gilding is a centuries-old technique — an art form in itself. Applying 23k gold leaf requires patience, skill, and reverence for tradition. The result is a radiant surface that interacts with light in a way that feels almost celestial — shifting, glowing, alive.
This is more than a sculpture — it’s a conversation between paper and metal, ancient craft and contemporary vision, earth and sky.
We invite you to take three minutes, slow down, and listen. There’s something special about hearing the story directly from the artists — the process, the inspiration, the meaning behind the fold.
🌟 One of a kind.
🌟 Gilded in 23k gold.
🌟 Inspired by the stars.
Watch the full video and let Celestial Navigator guide you.
We still have some spaces available in our Bronze casting workshop the first week of March. Come join us in the studio, learn about the ancient history of bronze casting and some modern techniques in a three day workshop in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
