Unforgettable day with the boys! From hand feeding as many yellowfin as you could possibly want at the back of the boat, to us hooking up on a white marlin with a 3” NLBN on a mahi set up it, and the fact that we were on our way back in before lunch it was definitely a trip for the books.

Some truly magical things happened on a recent trip with @ninefoot_nick . Nick texted me to see if I wanted to go take the @vickilynnsportfishing for an afternoon run with a primary focus of targeting big bass on the fly…how could I pass that up? I packed my truck with my Hardy Zane 11wt and my Nautilus NV 11wt and headed straight to the boat. We found some fish, caught a few on spinning tackle to get the skunk off the boat, then it was game on and time to get what we came for. We found some nice piles of fish and started dredging beast flys. It didn’t take long until I strip set my way into a fish of a lifetime. When the fish first ate I gave her 5 hard strip sets, once the fly line left the rod I gave it two more just to make sure that hook was in! Then she took off like a bat out of hell, screaming over 100yds into my backing, at this point I knew that this fish was something special. I kept as calm and collected as I could knowing that I may never get a shot at a fish like this again in my life. We finally got her to the boat and she measured 50”. A true fish of a lifetime and the best part of it all was watching her swim away.
