We had the most magical surprise experience. We slept under the stars in the salt pans! Nothing around us for miles, a bed with hot water bottles. Sleeping among the shooting stars and waking up to a beautiful sunrise, warm fire and coffee. Just out of this world 💜💫

Zazoo! We've seen lots of Pumbas and Timons and lion king characters! We met the Bushmen yesterday who were incredible. We learned so much from them. The elephants here are even bigger than the Delta if that's even possible! They are so graceful 🐘 The doilies are the best! They cover anytime that's open, though the squirrels know how to take them off if they need milk or sugar 😆

Did I say there are a lot of wildebeest in the desert?! We're at the salt plains; miles and miles of dry desert. I drove an ATV for the first time, slowly, but I did it 🥳 We drove them back to camp from the middle of the desert. We tried and failed spectacularly at jumping (I didn't do too bad in one!) but it was a laugh! I can't even describe the colours of the sunsets and sunrises; they're so vibrant especially when you're looking at an expanse of basically nothing else! ☀️

The giraffes are so beautiful, notice the baby and the different colours. They're so elegant! And not all zebras are black and white! The termite mounds are massive; hundreds of thousands of them building these all over the place. Onto the next camp from here

Well this very early morning started off with a walk (first one in over a week!), seeing lions in the distance, and hyena tracks, and changing course, and then observing a baby hippo kill (that we'd just seen last night - see pic). It was very sad and quite sobering, but also the circle of life 💜🦛😓

If you're squeamish, you might not want to look at the next couple of pics (though it's not bloody). When I said today was insane, not only did we see wild dogs, we also saw a cheetah with a cub (first sighting for the guides too!) and its kill (an impala). We didn't see the kill, thankfully, but it was quite soon after as she was still panting from the chase and moving it to a safer, shadier spot. The Jeep was almost her shady spot for it until we moved!
Cheetahs usually only pass through this area so this was a pretty rare sighting especially with the cub and feeding. Just incredible, definitely still processing...

This morning was an insane drive; we saw wild dogs that are usually pretty elusive, and it's the first sighting they've had with cubs (4!). We saw them chasing impalas without success, and then just hanging out for a few before running off again. Gorgeous colours but unfriendly otherwise 😆
Oh and we needed a pit stop halfway through (usually behind the Jeep or a termite mound lol) and Sy, our guide, pulled out his gun as he'd just seen fresh lion tracks, you know, to make sure we maintained our dignity while peeing behind a bush! Eek!

Yesterday was another amazing day. The first baby elephant was just in front of my deck, the second pic is the loo with a view! 🚽 We saw a jackall and different kinds of antelope, loads of elephants and 🦓. It's already very hot (and very cold in the morning!) 🫠😆
