There’s so much to look forward to this year, and so many people who care deeply about this village. Don’t be discouraged!

Aah, nothing beats the sound of heavy metal hitting the pavement and a nice cold one in the springtime sunshine🍻💪 Beerkeg Strongman was a total blast, with some real impressive lifts on the board. But as much as we love moving heavy objects, the real highlight wasn’t the numbers on the scoreboard—it was the energy you all brought to the table. Strength sports are unique because, while you’re out there competing against the clock or the weight, everyone on the sidelines is genuinely rooting for your success. Seeing the community show up in full force reminds me that we aren’t just here to beat one another—we’re here to elevate the entire sport. It’s about the loudest cheers coming from the person you’re trying to out-lift. It’s about the shared struggle and the mutual respect that comes after the final rep. Competition is the spark, but this community is the fuel. HUGE THANKS to everyone who came out, familiar faces and fresh ones, and made this event unforgettable! Thank you to @gorgesbeer for the beers and the hosting! Back to the lab to make the next one crazier! 😈 (We tried to tag everyone, but didn’t get everyone’s IG handle. We had an incredible day repping Eastside Kettlebell Collective at the Kernside Beer Strongman Competition 🤩 Andy participated in all the events and placed 3rd overall for men and Eloise won the women’s stein hold competition Thanks to Inner Beast, Lone Fir Gym, and Gorges Beer for hosting. And a very special thank you to Shay from Inner Beast who literally gave me the shoes off her feet for the deadlifts because I ran there and only had my running shoes 🙏🏽🥰💪🏽 There are two more competitions this summer! Can’t wait to go back!!

One idea that is really taking off in neighborhoods elsewhere in the city and the world is a regular free exchange of all the excess vegetables and fruits urban gardeners grow! We’d love to start a Crop Swap here in Kernside too, what we need is an incredible Volunteer to lead it! DM if you’re that person and help create something special!
