My longest, steadiest, somethimes rocky, too often abusive, rather shaky, love-hate relationship, literary and otherwise. Helped me pass my English external exam, pushed me towards studying literature, inspired a seminar paper in linguistics, opened my ears and my heart. So many editions, incomplete cos never bought You'll Have Had Your Hole (got my b.a, don't need to read plays again, thankyouverymuch) and his latest, Resolution, that came out last month, which i'll buy after unpacking this load in the new flat.

Life's been too crazy over the past year, and this week, last week of summer "break" was busy af, trying to cram fun stuff like reading, meeting friends, celebrating my wedding anniversary (21 ffs!), running and yoga together with work and preparations for the 2nd year of nursing school. @karenvinylgirl 's #cassetteappreciationweek2023 has been on my mind though and i was planning to post daily, revealing hidden gems that haven't been instagrammed in past challenges but I couldn't find the peace of mind to even think about it, let alone open the closet door where the tapes are stored.
So at last and at least, here's my humble contribution: no music here just an essential part of growing up with this weird and wonderful format, that would've been the 6th Love Language had this theory been formulated in the 1980's: the cassette cleaner.
I found this one, in a fancy plastic cover, when clear out my grandmother's house last March and took it both for its novekty and practical use. When I opened the box to photograph the technologic apparatus I noticed the Amcor logo. Amcor was an Israeli company that manufactured electrical appliances. My grandfather worked there and was even sent to Cyprus on a business trip in the 1950's - it was a rare thing. The wooden figurine in the 3rd pic here, Atlas standing on Planet Earth, carrying a refrigerator on his back is an Amcor marketing swag or something that savta was willing to give me when she was alive: she was very attached to all the tchotchkes that filled the walls and cabinets and shelves and practically every surface in her abode, letting go of stuff was tough for her. Under different circumstances (such as year of birth), she would've been a great record collector. Tomorrow would've been her 98th birthday and i miss her every moment.

just can't be happy today so I sought comfort on Google with photos of lonely roads in Alaska and gig pictures of nomeansno. The latter ended in a shallow rabbit hole, and just like All Roads Lead to Ausfahrt, all browsing end in Wikipedia that taught me that today marks the 30th anniversary of Why Do They Call Me Mr. Happy? - released in May 21st 1993, 2nd hand cd bought in Vancouver some 3+ years later, it's my favorite album by one of my top 5 bands.
