The changing table is designed to hold large baskets or crates, like these from @haydesign , so that the use of the changing table can change with the needs of the child.
Obviously plenty of nice rounded corners, but wanted the piece to feel grownup so that it can fit the home outside a nursery.
I’m back! Took a brief hiatus to become a dad and welcome home my baby boy.
Here is the first design inspired by my new role. The changing table accommodates all the childhood stages, from a diaper station to toy bin storage to a bookshelf. It’s currently being used daily and I’m pleased that I designed it a few inches taller than the typical changing table.

I love when a tv is completely surrounded by books. And the backless open shelving keeps it nice and airy. The shelving is relatively shallow, designed to be the depth of a coffee table book. This keeps it from eating up the floor space.
The shelf surface is thin whitewashed ply which is a nice scale match to the narrow steel bars. The natural steel finish looks so good against this dusty pink wall.
The tilted magazine shelf under the tv shows off pretty covers and also hides the router and cords.
Plant Stand Black Walnut
Trying to elevate my indoor plant efforts as the leaves are starting to come down outside. This pill-shaped plant stand is nice for dedicating a small space to a couple plants. Great on a desk, sideboard, or bar cabinet.
Face Sculpture Walnut + Brass
What do you think about this little guy? I’m inspired by the playfulness of @jaimehayon designs, so I spent an afternoon making a face in his style. I like the exercise of trying to incorporate someone else’s design language into my own. It resulted in this cute, punky, robotic head
I am proud to have been a part of LOCAL COLOR which just finished its successful 30 day public install in Detroit. The four structures, hanging clamps and signage were designed and made by @kepplerstudio . The twelve beautiful tapestries were handwoven and dyed using local plants by @salt.textile.studios . They graced the Dequindre Cut through sun, wind, and rain and looked all the better for it.
Circle Serving Board Black Walnut
Newly listed on the site, a beautiful serving board showing all the different tones of American black walnut. This board is made from the offcuts of my other walnut products. Working towards the day when none of this pretty wood goes to waste.

Side Table Black Walnut
Love the clean and compact design of this new side table. It feels modern and warm, just as I’d hoped. The middle shelf is narrower, giving it a slight hourglass figure. The frame structure on the sides are notched into the top and bottom, resulting in a strong construction without any hardware.
Although designed as a pair of bedside nightstands, the end table can complement many stylish seatings. Contact me for more info. They will be listed on the site soon as a made-to-order item.

The Metal Line Drawing looks right at home in this illustrated room! The project was to turn one line drawings into steel wall hangings that kept the feeling of it being made by a marker. The drawing now casts a shadow, is just barely three dimensional, and interacts with the wall color or surface behind it.

Sixty Side Table | Ash | Spring 2016

This design was made primarily as an exercise in angled joinery. It shows the impact of leaving an elemental shape uncomplicated. The equilateral structure keeps it strong and visually interesting without embellishments.

Folded Objet with Candle Insert | Enameled Steel + Ash | Summer 2018

The Folded Objet is a small steel sculpture that is designed to have a zigzag profile but form a pill shape when viewed from above. The wooden candle insert is itself an artful shape that must fill the center fold perfectly to maintain the overhead pill shape. It is pleasing to place the insert, like correctly placing a puzzle piece. The Folded Objet is made in a few colors and the Candle Insert is also made in walnut.
