Yesterday on Diaspora Daughters 🎙️✨
I sat down with Elizabeth from @kenteforaday to talk about the cultural significance of Kente fabric — beyond fashion, beyond aesthetics.
We explored its ancestral meaning, the stories woven into every thread, and the remembrance it holds for our people. 👑🧵
Kente is not just cloth.
It is identity.
It is lineage.
It is memory.
Diaspora Daughter, what you wear can carry history. don’t miss this powerful conversation 🤎

When I was asked to describe my business in one word, the first thought that came to mind was Sankofa.
There’s an Akan proverb:
“Se wo were fi na wosan kɔfa a, yenkyi.”
It is not wrong to go back for what you have forgotten.
In the diaspora, culture isn’t always automatic. We often have to intentionally seek opportunities to engage with it.
If my work creates even one doorway to make culture accessible, to help someone reconnect and honour our heritage with pride, then it’s doing what it was meant to do.
Thank you @diasporadaughterspodcast for the space to share not just my business but my why.

Did you know Gye Nyame is one of the most powerful Adinkra symbols from Ghana? ✨
It means “Except for God” — a reminder of God’s supremacy, protection, and the belief that nothing exists beyond His power.
In Episode 2 of the Diaspora Daughters Podcast, Elizabeth from Kente in a Day shares the deeper meanings behind Adinkra symbols and how they connect us back to our roots 🇬🇭
This is more than culture… it’s faith, identity, and legacy.
