A special note of appreciation for the three undergraduate students who supported this effort and had the amazing opportunity to attend the conference for the day - what a valuable experience!
The A.I.D. training (Awareness, Interaction and Direction), created in 2019 by @kentstatecpph , is now reaching communities in 26 states - and the researchers behind it are working to ensure it reaches many more. The program teaches participants how to recognize signs of mental distress, engage in compassionate and effective conversations with someone who may be struggling, and connect that person with the resources they need.

Yesterday, in celebration of #FlashesGiveBack Week, our Mobile Flashes team had a great time participating in “Good Neighbor Bingo,” organized by the College of Public Health in collaboration with the @kentcityhealthdepartment at the Kentway Senior Independent Living!
Designed on residents’ interests, the game focused on themes like respect, boundaries, and good manners. Through engaging scenarios and discussion prompts, the activity encouraged meaningful conversations about what it means to live together in a shared community space.
What a wonderful opportunity to connect, learn from one another, and build stronger community bonds!
Laurie Ann Moennich, Ph.D., didn't arrive at @kentstate planning to change healthcare. But Kent State had a way of opening doors she didn't even know existed.
Moennich spotted an announcement for something brand new: the Kent State University College of Public Health. She read the list of possible careers and found exactly what she was looking for: a way to help people she didn't even know existed until it was created at Kent State.
Today, Moennich is a research program manager of cardiothoracic and vascular surgery research at the Cleveland Clinic @clevelandclinic , one of the world's most renowned medical institutions.
