In this SNS, we will interrogate some of the basic assumptions we have about the union movement, why it’s important, why we should build it, and the political obstacles in the way. Before attending, we recommend listening to The Dig: Workers Organizing Workers w/ Eric Blanc and the final section, “The Tasks of Socialists in Today’s Resistance and Rebellion” of Kim Moody’s highly influential 2000 article, “The Rank and File Strategy .”

In honor of Independent Bookstore Day on April 25, I’m doing a series this week highlighting independent bookstores in Salt Lake City that you can reach by transit and a 5–15 minute walk 🚶🏽‍♀️🚞 Part 4: @kensandersbooks 📚 This one’s for the treasure hunters 🗺️📖 Ken Sanders Rare Books is a three-floor antiquarian bookstore filled with used, rare, and collectible books, plus maps, prints, and all kinds of ephemera 🥰 It’s the kind of place where you can wander for hours and stumble across something unexpected, from vintage postcards to rare first editions. 📍Ken Sanders Rare Books 209 E 500 S, Salt Lake City, UT 84111 How to get here by train: Take @rideuta ’s red line and hop off at Library Station. It’s just a few steps away from there. #saltlakecity #utah #independentbookstoreday

For 35 years, the Downtown Farmers Market has been bringing people together in the heart of Salt Lake City. Hear from Market Director Carly Gillespie, Salt Lake City Mayor Erin Mendenhall, and beloved local bookseller Ken Sanders on what makes the Winter Market at Civic Center something special — and why a permanent home here just makes sense.

Ken Sanders is very much enthused about sharing his love and knowledge of this Utah poet with you at the next Literary Libations. He has been an admirer of the late Utah poet May Swenson for many decades. Her little Brother Paul Swenson , a poet in his own right, was editor of Utah Holiday Magazine and the short lived Salt Lake Observer. Please consider joining us for this special event April 4th, 3-5 PM at Clubhouse SLC. Literary Libations is Salt Lake City's seasonal live podcast and boozy book club series, bringing together writers, readers, and curious minds for intimate afternoons of conversation, community, and very good wine, provided by the Wine Academy of Utah.‍ ‍Providing educational wine pairings + Non- Alcoholic libations included as a part of the Let’s Go Eat and Drink Podcast, live-participating audience experience. Tickets are $35 and are available at the link in our bio. #mayswenson #kensandersrarebooks #literarylibations #slcbookclub #slc
