Dad, Gramma, it’s not fair for me to be making this post right now. It’s not fair that you both had to leave so early. It’s not fair that I don’t get to remember some of the good days in these pictures. It’s not fair that we still had the best days just ahead. It’s not fair that you both left us within a month of each other. It’s not fair that you both get to eat clams up there together without us. No more stories, no more jokes, no more plans, no trips, rules, or games.
But. Gramma, I’m glad you found happiness, fun, and community. Dad, I’m glad you could go peacefully and without suffering. I thank God that I was able to share my true self with both of you and that you each made a point of sharing your acceptance and support. I thank God that through all this, I don’t have to question love in the ways I definitely did growing up. That said, I wish we had more than a few short months to enjoy.
I love you both. I know you’ll both watch over me as you did in life, and I’ll see you again.
