Devil In Red
Size 22x30cm - Edition 3/3 - Sold.
In the remote hills of eastern Gujarat, every year after Holi, the quiet village of Kavant transforms into a living canvas of rhythm, color, and ancestral pride. The Kavant Fair, also known as Kavant Gher, is one of India’s most vibrant and authentic tribal gatherings — a celebration
where the Rathwa community comes together to thank the earth for a generous harvest and to renew the heartbeat of their heritage through dance, music, and ritual.
Over the course of a few days, the fields of Kavant are transformed into open-air theatres of devotion. Men and women, their bodies painted with white dots made of rice paste and ash, move in rhythmic unison to the echo of drums and the calls of flutes. Peacock feathers shimmer in
the sunlight, silver jewelry catches the dust-filled air, and the sound of bells and footsteps rises like prayer.
The photographs in this exhibition capture the raw energy, grace, and visual poetry of the festival — the merging of body and rhythm, nature and faith, community and art. Through these images, Kavant reveals itself not merely as a celebration, but as a living archive of memory and
identity — a place where dance becomes language, and every color tells a story of belonging.

Viggo Mortensen.
Quite a few people have asked me about the lighting setup for my session with Viggo Mortensen, so here’s a breakdown.
The initial plan was to capture some natural, daylight portraits. However, with only 20 minutes to work with the gentleman, we had to be well-prepared.
We built two setups: one for close-ups and another for full-body shots. Both used cotton fabric backdrops to add texture, and one included curtains to help “set the scene.”
For the close-up setup, we created a black box around him to add sharpe. (And privacy;) Our primary light source was a large window, supplemented with a touch of fill from a big softbox (because, well, this is Denmark—sunlight isn’t always reliable).
Since we’d already bent the “natural daylight” rule a bit, we applied the same approach to the second setup. This included a small fill light and some continuous lighting for the backdrop, which we also used in the close-up shots to add atmosphere.
That’s about it! Feel free to ask any questions in the comments - swipe for bts

The Well of Death is travelling Indian tradition – high-octane, low-tech entertainment where cars and motorbikes roar around the vertical sides of a 60ft wooden cylinder.
Ordinary men and women risk their lives for the thrill of the crowd. The atmosphere overwhelms the senses from the rasp of the engines to the sickly combination of candyfloss and fuel that scents the air. The crowd stand in awe, enticing the drivers with rupees to ride closer to the edge.
Radha started riding at thirteen. Mesmerised by the stunts she saw performed in her local fair in Delhi, became determined to become a daredevil. Trying to gain access into a macho sport in a patriarchal society was a challenge, but she stayed focused and is now one of the most renowned female riders in the whole country.
Although the riders originate from a variety of states across India, they live and tour like a family. They ride eleven months of the year performing fifteen-minute shows up to twenty times a day, embracing the mental and physical endurance for an adrenaline-fuelled ride.

I’m excited to share something different today.
If you’ve been following my work, you’ll notice a change - this is my first black and white photo on Instagram, and maybe even in my 20+ year career.
Black and white photography has a timeless appeal and has increased in popularity over the last couple of years, probably due to AI, as people seek something that feels more analog.
I might be a bit late to the party, but as they say, better late than never!
The absence of color allows us to focus on the raw emotions and intricate details, bringing out a different dimension of storytelling.
This series features my good friend Mathias, a renowned film director with whom I’ve had the pleasure of collaborating over the years - he is a raw talent and the inspiration for this.
For me, photography is about constant evolution, always moving forward, and challenging myself to test new ideas and perspectives. This black and white series is a testament to that journey.
I hope you enjoy this new direction as much as I enjoyed creating it.
Your feedback means the world to me, so please let me know what you think!

My next photography workshop is officially here — and once again, we’re heading to Sweden.
October 1–4, 2026, just two hours from Copenhagen Airport.
This is more than a workshop — it’s an experience designed for both personal and creative growth. A chance to step away from routine, create with intention, and connect with photographers and creatives who care deeply about craft, purpose, and artistry.
Over four days, we’ll move through a thoughtfully curated program suited for both amateur and professional photographers — or anyone passionate about taking their work to the next level.
What to expect:
• Three curated shoots across different locations
• Creative direction and hands-on, on-set guidance
• A strong sense of community that continues beyond the retreat
We’ll focus on cinematic lighting and portrait photography — exploring how to shape light and create powerful, visually striking images.
To keep the experience personal and immersive, the group will be intentionally small: a minimum of 5 and a maximum of 9 participants.
And beyond the work:
• Slow dinners, great food, meaningful conversations, sauna and beautiful surroundings in the Swedish forest. We will be staying at @stromsborgretreat
I’m excited to once again collaborate with my friends at @phaseonephoto , providing access to some of the best medium format cameras throughout the workshop.
Sign-ups are now open.
For the full itinerary and more details, visit the link in my bio. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out — I’m happy to help.
Looking forward to a few inspiring days together.
Warm regards,
Ken
