You can’t begin to fathom how much this upset me. I grew up in that community so I know that this is an understatement compared to the d!sgusting and repulsive behaviors that goes on in that community which happens in the open and with zero prohibition and no one is holding them accountable. It’s our collective responsibility to speak loudly against these behaviors and call on the authorities to put to a permanent stop this menace.
Last night, while talking with some of my sisters in Christ, I found myself reminiscing about my secondary school days when I served God so fervently. Back then, the journey often felt lonely, isolating, and heavy. I didn’t understand why my life looked so different from everyone else’s. I wanted what I thought “normal” people had — deeper friendships, certain experiences, and a life that felt less separated.
What I didn’t realize then was that when God places a great calling upon your life, separation becomes part of the process. Sometimes God pulls you away from many things so that your focus can truly become Him. At that age, I mistook separation for loneliness.
Eventually, I backslid, and for years I wandered far from God. But even in those years, God kept whispering to me, “Trust the process.” I could not understand how losing my way could ever be part of His plan. Now, looking back, I finally see it clearly. God allowed me to experience the emptiness of the world so I would understand that I was never truly missing anything in Him.
The crushing, the pain, the wandering — all of it prepared me. Because ministry is often this: someone else finding healing through the oil that came from your crushing.
Today, I am grateful to be back with Jesus, fully surrendered. And this time, I understand better. Ministry requires separation. It may look lonely at times, but with God, you are never truly alone.
But this time around, I am deeply grateful because God has given me the gift of sisters, the gift of family, A Godsent spouse, and the gift of spiritually mature people who walk this journey with me. It will not be as lonely as it once was. I feel held, sharpened, strengthened, and sustained by God’s grace.
As I continue this journey, my prayer is simple: Lord, THANK YOU FOR A SECOND CHANCE and let Your mighty hand continually hold me.
