y’all my first magazine feature story came out today! it’s about endangered orcas, a whale-poop sniffing dog named Eba, and the state of conservation science in 2025…it was a tough project, but i’m really proud of how it turned out. i would be honored if you read it (or even just clicked the link in bio to look at the pretty pictures by @jeffdelviscio .) you can also find a physical copy at a bookstore/newsstand/airport near you! print media is cool!

Mil gracias a mi hermosa amiga @takemetohell._ por invitarme acompañarla a la Atacama — un lugar único y mágico. Vimos muchas vicuñas, que son como pequeñas llamas salvajes (son demasiadas lindas). Ellas solo viven en la Cordillera de los Andes en grandes altitudes, de 3,600 a 4,800 metros (12,000-16,000 ft)! Las quiero mucho 💕 (y tkm también, Judith!)
La vida puede ser chistosa, no? La semana pasada iba a hacer un post sobre mi paso por Chile con un par de mis fotos favoritas y de mi gente favorita. Pero elegí esperar unos días más. Y durante estos pocos días, perdí mi celular — y con eso, perdí casi todas mis fotos de Chile, y de los últimos tres años (por suerte, tengo estas fotos de mi camera). Está bien — la vida sigue, y siempre tendré los recuerdos, con o sin fotos. Pero si tienes algunas fotitos de nuestro tiempo juntos, envíamelas! :)
Sin embargo, todavía quiero decir lo que iba a decir antes:
He estado queriendo decir algo aquí sobre mi tiempo viviendo en Chile, pero cada vez que lo intenté, no tenía las palabras para explicar que tan importante fue ese tiempo para mí. En fin, solo quiero decir: gracias — mil gracias — gracias a la gente quien me recibió con brazos y corazones abiertos. A cada persona le estoy agradecido, si es que nos conocimos por meses o solo un ratito. Gracias a ustedes por compartir conmigo, por compartir sus ciudades, sus bosques y montañas, su idioma (con toda su hermosa idiosincrasia 😝), su ciencia, su historia, su cultura, y sus vidas; con sus frustraciones y esperanzas por igual. Aprendí y experimenté mucho, y no puedo esperar a la próxima vez que pueda vivir allí de nuevo. No duden en contactarme en cualquier momento por cualquier razón. Siempre tienen una amiga en mí <3
And then I spent three magical weird wonderful days in the wilderness with the loveliest humans! My camera roll is nearly empty but my heart is bursting with love and music and my mind is a kaleidoscope of memories that I will joyfully look through whenever I need a spark of joy or inspiration. Thank you for welcoming me, you beautiful bellies!
I had a lovely night with my wonderful friend @dave__pal to celebrate my award-losing short doc (“it’s an honor just to be nominated!!”) and I felt very fancy and special and grateful and happy to be color-coordinated with these fun lanterns and spring flowers :)))) 🌸🌷🌺
