Tomorrow at the @musicboxchicago I’m thrilled to be in conversation with @mrbenmckenzie about his insightful (and honestly wild) #documentary Everyone Is Lying to You for Money—a deep dive into the strange and often scammy world of #cryptocurrency The screening is sold out, and I’m ready with my questions. My first real introduction to crypto was through my work on The Highest of Stakes, a documentary focused on the HEX coin—and let’s just say, that was a wild ride. What’s striking is how much of that world still feels the same today. Really looking forward to this conversation and unpacking what’s changed… and what hasn’t.

A few years ago I said, “I think I’m going to write a book…” and now here we are! @foolmeoncebook is officially 3 years old today and what a ride it’s been—book talks, TV interviews, random “wait…aren’t you the fraud lady?” moments, and so many incredible people I’ve met along the way. And the excitement seeing the review in the @wsj !!! Epic!!! Writing a book is wild. You question everything, rewrite everything, and then one day… it’s out in the world doing its thing. So today I’m celebrating the #book AND the people who are bold (or slightly crazy 😅) enough to write one. If you’ve ever thought about writing a book—this is your sign. Start messy. Keep going. Figure it out later. Cheers to the #authors, the #fun storytellers, and the ideas that refuse to stay quiet. #happybirthday #books

#MondayMemories ✨ A day on set filming All the Queen’s Horses @thequeenshorses — a project that brought together powerful #storytelling and the real-world impact of #accounting. These days, I’m often behind the camera… but there was a time I stepped into the spotlight. And honestly? I love both sides of the lens. ♥️ Because when you can mix filmmaking with accounting education, you’re not just telling stories — you’re changing how people see the #numbers. 🎬📚 And having the opportunity to working with some of the most talented people in the industry like @kdub3636 @bingliu89 @mbyrnefilm @raymondclambert and so many others made this project a life-changing experience. #documentary filmmaking

I’ve given countless talks over the years, but until now, I never had a speaker’s reel Thanks to @robertlpoole that changed — and I’m so glad it did. A #reel captures your voice, energy, and message in a way that words on a page never can. If you don’t have one yet, here are a few quick tips to get started: 1️⃣ Use your iPhone to capture clips — the quality is amazing. 2️⃣ Edit yourself or get help (I had so much footage I needed Bobby’s expertise). 3️⃣Work in soundbites — memorable lines stick with audiences. 4️⃣ Keep it short and add music — my reel is 55 seconds with a soundtrack that sets the tone. 5️⃣ Most importantly: have fun and smile. #speaking #reel #accounting

Ever heard of #FOFA?
That’s Fear Of Failing Accounting—and yes, it’s real. Across the globe, #accounting has earned a reputation as one of the most challenging subjects in business education. It’s mathematical, analytical, and for many students, intimidating. Like gateway courses such as math or chemistry, accounting can become a choke point—slowing student progress, lowering GPAs, and raising failure rates. But here’s the bigger issue: research shows that underrepresented students are disproportionately affected by these gateway courses. That means lower graduation rates and fewer opportunities down the line. This is exactly why we need to acknowledge FOFA and rethink how we teach accounting.
We need to make it #engaging. #Impactful. #Relevant. #Approachable.
Because, as I always say—knowing accounting is a life skill. Whether I’m teaching at @depaulbiz , building courses with my @redflagmania team, teaching with @augment_org , or coaching my son Evan (who’s succesfully tackling his first #online accounting class this summer)—I remind everyone: accounting isn’t just a course. It’s a key to #career #success. 💬 So, be honest—did you ever #struggle with accounting and feel the weight of #FOFA?
Let’s talk about it and create a conversation that makes accounting less scary and more accessible—for everyone.

It’s that exciting time of summer when I dive into creating fresh, dynamic syllabi for my cost/managerial and forensic accounting courses at @depaulu . My mission is simple yet ambitious: keep my classes vibrant, relevant, and deeply engaging. For over a decade, I’ve embraced #experiential learning—a powerful approach that breathes life into the curriculum. What does #experiential learning look like in my classroom? It means students actively:     •    ENGAGE with compelling, real-world scenarios.     •    EXCITE their curiosity by solving intriguing, true-crime-inspired challenges.     •    ENHANCE their practical skills through immersive, hands-on experiences. This approach ensures my #students leave the classroom confident, inspired, and ready to make an impact. Special shout my @redflagmania team for always pushing the #innovation envelope in higher education. #teaching #accounting #backtoschool

Nearly a decade ago, I sat down with the incredible Ceci Rodgers from @northwesternu for a media training session that turned out to be a game-changer. At the time, I had no idea just how often I’d end up in front of a camera, waving the flag as accounting’s #1 cheerleader. But the wisdom Ceci shared has stuck with me every step of the way. The clip below is from an Intro to Accounting course I filmed with the amazing team at @augment_org . My mission? To make #accounting feel less intimidating—and way more #fun. Yes, fun. Accounting can be full of energy, humor, and relevance when you tell the story right. Shout out to @ariel.renous and @roywellner for re-imagining the business school experience. Thinking about stepping in front of the camera yourself as accounting talent? Shoot me a message—I’ve got tips, tricks, and stories to share! #bschool #businessschool #mba #accounting #pipeline #fraud #teaching #talent
