I’ve been planning this solo since before the season started and practicing with Tracy and the banana so I didn’t just laugh throughout the whole thing. (Also earned top performance of the night and I’m very proud of that! The night was chocked full of them!)
Every time I thought about this walk with my dad, to my husband I would bawl. Not a pretty single tear- like the Hoover dam breaking. But kinda doing a little prank on everyone? Giddy.
And it is a love song.

Today is World Autism Awareness/Acceptance Day (and all month)
The last 10 months have been filled with research, nearly a dozen audiobooks written by doctors, everyday people about their own experience with autism (and AuDHD- the combo of both ADHD & Autism of which I have both) and some books the author was both a PHD & Neurodivergent.
The biggest thing I’ve learned is that even the medical community needs to be caught up in what autism actually is, what the spectrum is, not just the general public.
I’ve been assessed, had/continue therapy and am really learning a lot. Realizing that my adjusting to everyone else’s/society’s comfort was masking, and it has been draining me for decades. I’m learning to recognize what overstimulates me, what can help me, and how to ask for help/accommodations.
David is the most amazing partner. He has been by my side through all of this, listening, asking questions and really seeing me. He can see things others can’t: When I need help. And then he does exactly the right thing, even if I’m not sure what the right thing is. I wish everyone, in any situation, this kind of person in your life.
I’m still learning and figuring things out. A lot of adjusting. It really is like at 39 I realized I couldn’t see and just put on prescription glasses on for the first time. Like oh- life isn’t supposed to be blurry?!
I’ll be sharing stories I find helpful in explaining what the Autism Spectrum for the month. Cause you know… awareness.
So glad we did a photo dash! Had the entirety of this song to hit all the tables and get pictures with everyone. Props to Ashley for chasing us around to film it!
