Thanks to a few shares of the en-suite last night I’ve welcomed a few new followers. Hi, I’m Kelly, and don’t get too used to this. I’m too self conscious to make a regular appearance in the flesh on here (@grammarpuss made me promote this pic from my Stories yesterday - no I love you Karen 😘) I’m a 41yo freelance book publicist and I live just outside Bristol with my three kids, husband and a characterful Maine Coon called Starlord. We previously lived in an end of terrace in Bristol and you’ll see some of that house if you scroll further down the grid. We moved to this Grade II Listed cottage in June last year. It’s got all the country feels whilst being walking distance to the big city. Win. I’m expecting to pop more renovation content on here as I rediscover my feet on Instagram following an 18month reset after my mum died really unexpectedly (she loved my Instagram. It felt a bit pointless doing it without her there). Anyway, thanks for joining me on this next phase. Inspired by @no.13luckyforsome I thought I would show my sleeping arrangement with my youngest who spent so long needing me to be in the same room as him I set up a proper camp in here with my own small double bed. When I finally redecorated last year I factored it in by getting a smaller single bed from FB Marketplace to fit in the alcove and sorting out a light for him to read. Now it’s now so nice in here I’m not sure I’ll move back into the main bedroom!

New lamp? Lusted after this for ages. Finally able to buy this. She’s looking very at home in my newly wallpapered bedroom.

Please stay sunshine. I’m not sure how I’m going to cope when the weather returns to normal and we realise this was summer. I celebrated the bank holiday by furiously tidying. It would be rude not to share the results!

No one could ever accuse me of Christmas fever. It’s 10 days until the big day and the tree only went up on Wednesday after I panic bought a tree after school pickup. There literally mother else festive in the house. Might try and rectify this later today but I’m just not feeling Christmas this year at all.

The summer holidays might be a huge juggle and I might have panic booked my kids into a couple more camps than I planned after the insane work/kid combination that was this week, but one thing I do like about the holidays is the (slightly) slower mornings and views like this. ——————————————————————————————— #moderncountrycottage #moderncountryinteriors #listedbuilding #countryliving

What made you fall in love with your house? @natashapoliszczuk posted this week about her dream of a bookcase that went over the door. It’s one of the main reasons I fell in love with our Georgian cottage just outside of Bristol. Once we moved I was able to start buying physical copies of books again. Which is handy if you’re a book publicist by day… Fun fact: I did a photoshoot for YOU Magazine on beautiful bookcases but they cut me out of the printed feature! The comments on it were hilarious. Apparently you can’t possibly colour code your library and have actually read the books there. I can confidently say I have read almost all of the books on this bookcase (except the hardcore philosophy titles from my husband’s degree 👀) and there are some really special signed copies and first editions from earlier in my career. To me, a home isn’t really a home until it’s full to the brim of books. Luckily, we have several more book cases and nooks.
