Last night I had the opportunity to speak to county- Monroe County Legislature during their monthly open forum. I highlighted the need for an #opc, #supportivehousing and #lowbarriershelter for #roc and beyond.

We want to get the lead out! There has been a scourge of cooking pots (frequently for sale particularly in international food markets) that are high in lead- leading to accidental lead exposure- high acid foods like tomatoes leach the lead out of the pans. We want to help ensure when you’re preparing meals for your family you’re keeping them healthy. Please be sure to reach out to non-English speaking neighbors and help them exchange their cookware on June 27.

Ok, I love plants, but I am a bad plant mom. Plants don’t remind you when you need to do things like water them until it’s too late and they are already in a way. My tiny leggy lettuces from the winter withered way too fast. So I was pretty much going to give up. But I had been seeing all of these home hydroponic gardens for awhile now when I saw one pop up on marketplace… it has an ap that bugs me to do stuff, but it also automates a whole bunch like watering and lighting and reminding to do things. I have lots of tiny little sprouts and I’m kind of excited cause they look better than any other attempt I’ve had before… in a few days it’s going to tell me to thin these all out.
So yes, I am a woman of science and could likely figure out all of this stuff, but I’m over scheduled and this actually feels like a solid use of tech to skill build. Maybe I’ll get better at it with a digital plant coach :).
