Ruby the giant Squid, also known as “Project 38” as out was started on my 38th birthday and finished a couple weeks before my 39th birthday.
This is a full cross stitch kit in wool on 7 count fabric from @emjpeacock and clocked in at 43,766 stitches.
This was so much fun to stitch and will hopefully do another in the future!
Shoutout to @boomerangstitches , whom shared this in her WIP pile alerting me to its existence. And shoutout to my husband who let Ruby live on our dining room table for a full year.
We don’t have a lot of open walls in our house, so we chose to hang her as a pop of color in the hallway between our laundry room and kitchen, so we’ll see her often 😀

Cross stitch-32 count Lugana
Mounted into fabric and canvas wrapped.
Learned so much on this project, the fully insert circle was challenging, which I need more practice on but am still happy with. I love the stitching details on the block and love how this came together.

Several years back (2023) I started this series of bananas, which was always meant to be a quad set to make a couch pillow with. I however had never finished the fourth and I think it’s time. I have it kitted up and ready to go but for fun, vote below for what color you think the final banana is. 👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻

This quilt was started in the early months of the genocide in Palestine, when it become abysmally and abundantly clear that the deaths of children was a disproportionate number. I often cried for those families, as a mother of a lost child.
“The children are always ours, every single one of them, all over the globe. And I’m beginning to suspect that whoever is incapable of recognizing this may be incapable of morality. -James Baldwin
Materials are reclaimed children’s clothes from both of my children, friends, neighbors, and a piece from when one of my sisters. Back is reclaimed receiving blankets. Hand quilted.
Each of these fabrics wrapped a beloved child. All those children in Palestine are beloved children. Place of birth shouldn’t dictate whether children are murdered by a mortar.
We must do better.
