Congratulations to Lanzhou Ceramic Residency alumni @keithekstam for his retrospective at the @carolla.artscenter.msu in Springfield Missouri. This exhibition featured work from Ekstam’s extensive studio career and included his many students who have gone on to influential careers in clay. Among these students were LCR alumni @patsycox and @craig.hartenberger . This show of diverse work illustrated the broad impact Ekstam has made on the field of ceramics and on the lives of his many students. I am thankful to be one of them, and lucky to call him my professor. ❤️

@keithekstam show opening @carolla.artscenter.msu I have known and made art and fired kilns with Keith since my first wood kiln firing @collegeoftheozarks in late 90s as a student. He is and excellent maker, travel companion, kiln buddy, fishing buddy, colleague, friend and mentor. I am excited for the art walk Feb 6th- 6-9pm and thankful to know such a great guy. Some jewels here, from past wood kilns at CofO, Taiwan snake kiln 2005. And a gem from early 90s workshop. Have recently made a handful of terra cotta fish baskets, wheel-thrown and hand-building combined. A nod to several years ago when I was making these fairly regularly. #ceramic#pottery#clayart
Thanks to Keaton Wynn for sharing this image of my work on this exhibition poster. The show is in Hu Tan Village near Lanzhou, China. The sculpture was made during my 2018 residency at Lanzhou City University.

The sculpture is titled: Cautionary Tale: Hexi Series and is made of high-fired stoneware clay.
